So, we are still looking at RHs. We saw Coral House this wknd and FH loved it! We have a party of about 150 people, so we would be in the big 'Americana' room. The room is really big -- windows facing the lake line one side of the wall. They prepared us food on the spot, and it was pretty good. (I dont eat meat, but FH does and said it was really good).
So, we are leaning towards this...however...
I really cant get over the cocktail hour space/location. It is in the basement -- it has low ceilings, dim lighting, and a monochramatic 1970's mauve color scheme. Not to be overly dramatic, but it makes me want to gag a bit. lol
Any advice from past CH brides/guests/onlookers about how to lighten the CH space more bearable?
FH doesnt see it as a big deal, because he figures people are there for the food anyway. And we probably wont be around during CH hour so i wont have to look at it.
But, this is the first view guests will see of our wedding. One hour can feel very long in a confined, stuffy, ugly space.
Of course this is just my opinion of the area, and i dont mean to offend anyone who does like it....but please help!!
FH likes the place, and I like the big room...but i really cant get over how much the CH room turns me off. I am open to ideas on how to make it better thougH!!
Plese help!
Thank you!!!

Honestly .. CH was my first pick.. But decided to go with Leonards..
They have other rooms you can go and ask for the Cocktail hour.. Don't be afraid to ask becuase they will give you any room just to get you out the way.. FM me with any questions.. Good Luck...

cant they do it on the roof
only in the warmer months
Unfortunately, they still consider April cold...and they said that they have never done outside in April.
So, that leaves us with the basement. I asked if we could do another room and for CH, but they said only if it wasnt booked -- which they couldnt confirm till the week before.
