My name is Michelle, I'm new to this site, but have been browsing your entries and they all have been sooo helpful!!!
I was wondering if anyone could give me any information about The Douglaston Manor, The Riviera, or The Coral House.
Me and FH love The Riviera but think it may be too small for our 150 guests...
We also loved The Douglaston Manor...
We didn't see The Coral House yet, but will Saturday morning...
I have tastings at all these places all weekend! LOL
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Coral House? Douglaston Manor? Riviera?
I dont know about Coral House and DM, but I have also heard that the Riviera is very tight for 150 people. It was on my list, but since I kept seeing that all over, i just decided not.

Thank you for all your help guys! Yes, from what me and FH have talked about, it's really looking like it is between The Coral House and The Douglaston Manor.
Riviera is gorgeous, but it is hard to imagine over 150 in that place! Plus our friends and family is going to near the bar quite often, and it will def get tight and annoying!
I also don't want to put all my faith in the weather!
I'm off to a Coral House tasting in a few hours, and tomorrow the Douglaston... soooo hopefully by then I'll finally be booked somewhere! Yay! So exciting!
Thank you girls for your help!

I have been to all three, I booked the douglaston manor beause the room we booked could hold up to 250 and were only looking to have about 140. I liked that there was extra room in that place and the people there couldn't have been nicer.

My cousin had his wedding at the Riviera last year. I felt that there were to many people there .. Not exactly sure how many but we were all the way in the back at the last table, we couldn’t even see the dance floor.

I just tried to post something, but I have no idea where it went!
Anyway.. I just got back from my two tours/tastings from The Riviera and The Coral House:
The Coral House was BEAUTIFUL outside, but inside wasn't me and FH style.... The BM, Laurie, was awesome, though! Real sweet and helpful.... and those shrimp shooters were very cute!
The Riviera's food was soooo goooood <3 We had a bunch of samplings from the cocktail hour from the wedding there today. The bride getting married there today had a day to die for! Gorgeous weather!
I'm still concerned, though, about squishing 150+ guests in there though... esp. if it rains!
Sooo... we have a tasting back at The Douglaston tomorrow, and hoping the food will be awesome, because I think it's so pretty and different there!
We are not a traditional couple, we have no bridal party except a best man and maid of honor, and we want to attend our own cocktail hour! People seem to think this is weird, but I like it.
Anyone have any food opinions from these places?

All are beautiful, and you'll be happy no matter where you book.
But, a friend had her wedding at the Riviera, about the same amount of people, and it was tight. More importantly: Although she looooved the Riviera, she was so disappointed that most of the people weren't actually IN the room, they were out back enjoying the beautiful view. A lot of people missed her cake cutting, first dance, etc because they were all out back bs-ing and looking at the water. An unexpected nuance of having a wedding on the water.
My sister just got married a week ago today at CH, and I was the MOH. They were just great. Their rooftop cocktail hour was gorgeous, we took amazing pics on the lake, the service was great. I'd highly reccommend CH. Ultimately, for the price, it was remarkable. We ultimately went with Floral Terrace for our own reasons, but I really think CH is not only excellent as far as service and atmosphere, but a real bargain too.
My sister and her new hubby were THRILLED to work with the CH every step of the way. CH even went above and beyond- to make- get this- a nacho cheese fountain, which was the groom's only request =)

Well, after my tasting today at The Douglaston.... we booked on the spot!
The food was wonderful! Delicious! And I'm an Italian Brooklynite, I'm a tough critic.... it was great.
The BM Thomas was AWESOME.... he answered any question we had and broke down every little question about planning or pricing.
He is really on top of things!
I really recommend The Douglaston Manor....
The pricing is resonable, the food was great, and the people are awesome.
It really is a hidden Gem!
The Riviera is great too, but way too small for my 150 guests!! :(
