Cost for Bridal Party Hair and Make-up

Cost for Bridal Party Hair and Make-up

I am just full of questions today.

I figured out that, if I want to go with the people who did my hair and make-up, it would cost $170 each for the 6 women in my bridal party to have their hair and make-up done. (90 for make-up, 80 for hair)

While I love the way I looked, I don't think it is fair to ask them to pay this. On the flip side, I really can't afford to shell out an extra $1000 for them.

I need to guarantee a 3-person minimum, which means my sister (MOHs) at the very least will have to pay this. Plus there is my mom, my grandma, and my FMIL.

Plus I have 1 Junior bridemaid and 2 flower girls, each of whom will have to pay $50 for their hair, but get make-up for free. If I am already making their moms pay for dresses, it's not fair for me to make them pay for hair

Does this price seem high? Should I consider different vendors? Should I offer to pay for 1/2? I really liked my trial, but ultimately, I don't think it is fair to ask my girls to pay this much.

its high but seems to be standard, if that makes sense. everyone is paying $75 for hair, and either $85 or $90 for makeup

I felt bad too, I asked all my married friends and they said don't feel bad, People want to share in ur day and know how expensive it will be to be in ur party. If you can pay for part then you may want to, but if not its sort of expected that they are going to spend a lot....

That's actually lower than a lot of prices I saw.
It's just an expensive thing, there's really no way around it.

Give your girls the option...I had 5 girls- 4 got their hair done and 3 got makeup done...The girls who did their own hair/makeup looked great too!

im def using oksana because i loved my trial and im paying for the girls (only makeup and its part of their gift) hair i still dont know but im probably going to use jenn because i asked my girls what they're going to do and they said get it done somewhere which they will pay around the same amount at least this will be easier they dont have to go anywhere
so def ask you girls and see what they say

I suggested to my MOm to go to Clinque or somewhere else like that early in the am on day of to get a free trial. Don't mention it's someones wedding. You can save some money on 1 - 2 people. Just make appts for that day.

I got the price blocks for each,

How many girls for what price, etc.

Then let them know the MOST they would be spending, that is if the LEAST amount got it done. Ask the parents/grandparents, etc. if they want to get it done also.

Then let them decide.

I let my girls decide what they wanted to do. 2 of my girls did their own makeup, 2 of them got it done, 2 of my girls did their own hair and 2 of them got it done.

that sounds about right

I'm paying for my BP's make-up but not hair. I think that's fair. People know that standing up in a wedding costs money and they usually prepare and save for it.

I told all of my girls that I would LIKE to be able to pay half, but I cannot guarentee that I'll be able to afford it. SO..that way they know that I am trying but in worst case sinario, they will be prepared....

I think $170 is a bit high for H&M for the BP. My person is charging $125 for each additional person. Can the price be negotiated...say they do a simple updo and makeup for a set price (which is lower than $170)?

Those are great prices...for both the makeup artist and hairstylist to come to me, we/I paid $100 for makeup and $75 for hair. I paid for my BP's hair but not makeup...I gave them the option of paying for their makeup which they opted to do. I offered for their hair because I think it's harder to do an updo than do makeup-JMO.
P.S. I used Oksana also and she did a fabulous job...great choice

Thanks all. I talked about it with my sisters this weekend.

They said they have no problem paying for themselves. I feel bad about it though.

What I decided is that since the make-up is more important to me, I will pay for everyone's make-up.

I will make them pay for their own hair. They can do it with me (which I know my mom and grandma will want) or they can get it done elsewhere.

I payed for 50% so it would be affordable for them!
