Cost of Cake

Can anyone tell me what the cost of a wedding cake would be? I have 220 people so they told me I would need 4 tiers and have quoted me $900. Is that too high? There is nothing fancy about it.

usually it's thru the venue but i can tell you that even a little tiny upgrade (gum paste flowers instead of regular sugar) was $100

other not too noticable/ fancy upgrades that COST!!
fondant
some flavors (red velvet, marble)
some shapes

My cake was included with the RH, but when I went for the tasting at Francesco's, they told me that that the cost would be about $1500. An upgrade for fondant added another $350. I had no idea how expensive cakes were before this.

Depending upon upgrades and flavors I think most wedding cakes are $3 and up per slice.
Don't forget any delivery fees.

We did our cake tasting last night at the bakery. Our venue gives us a cake but we did some upgrades that will cost 495!

My cake is included with the RH as well and Francesco's is the bakery. I sent my BM a picture of the cake I wanted... 4 tier lace detail with sugar roses and petals cascading down.. it was $600... I went with fresh flowers... no extra charge. What flavors did you taste?

The bakery that my hall used (A Sweat Peace) let me have fondant and red velvet at no extra charge. The cake was absolutely delicious!!!

We had some flowers added on our cake through Francesco's and it was an additional $150. If they didn't put the grass on top of the cake for our wedding toppers, I don't think it would have been worth it.

I was wondering about cake upcharges at Sweat peace... I know it's still too early for all of that for my wedding, but it's been in the back of my mind. Not sure if I want to do fondant, I just want the frosting to be a mint color to go with our theme.
