I've been looking into making my own invites but it seems everytime I come up with an idea, I'm still spending so much $$. I need to make at least 175 invites. I want to use some sort of envelopment, rhinestones and ribbon. I see a lot of girls on here doing similar things.
How much is making your own costing you with all these embellishments?
Also are you printing your own? Does it look nice and professional printing your own. I want to print on metallic paper and I'm afraid it won't look nice if I do it myself.
Thanks!

I'm making 150 and the only embellishment I used was a rhinestone. I also used ribbon. I bumped my directions and pics on this board. I saved MUCHO $$.

Re: Cost of DIY invites
Mine are in my album I did pocketfolds. with rhinestone buckles, ribon the rhinestones on the invites themselves, I printed it all myself the total cost was $142 for all of it. but that also included the Placecards, Menus & Programs. As some of the supplies I bought will be used for them and on my cardbardbox. So what the invitations cost me... EXACTLY I don't know.. because I got the stuff for everything I just mentioned for that $142 I can tell you I have enough to make 100 of everything.

$142, that's it! That's awesome and the invites look really nice. Where did you get your pocketfolds, paper, rhinestones and buckle?

I got card stock precut from Anchor paper the i folded and glued them myself. (Pocketfolds) you need to have the invitations paper first so you can give Tom the measurements then he helps you figure out what you need for pocketfolds.
I bought Invitation kits I got mine at pat Catan's (I now live in Ohio) but Micheal's sells them, they were Gartner Studios ones they came with 50 invites 100 response cards, 100 programs, 100 placecards, envelopes (I only used the reponse card ones). The rhinestones I used on the invites were peel and stick ones from Micheals (again all craft stores carry them). The buckles I ordered from China from an manufactuer i got them for 59 cents a piece (that is including the shipping what they came out to be). I can send you the uckle info if you want. the ribbon I ordered from ribbon bazaar.com I got 50 yrds of double sided satin for $14 but you have to place a $20 order with them so i ordered other ribbon i am using on my favors. Then i ordered envelopes (my invites needed LARGE ones from LCI paper they were like $11.

Re: Cost of DIY invites
the thing about pocketfolds is that you can add as little or as much as you would like to them. my invites consists of:
-120 pocketfolds -background mats (which i'm also using to line the envelopes -80lb linen paper -A7 and 4bar linen envelopes -rhinestones -ribbon
I spent about $300 for all the materials but the creativeness that I have over the project is invaluable and gives me a piece of mind that the job is gonna get done my way and up to my expectations.

Re: Cost of DIY invites
I spent about $400 on materials for 100 invites but I have enough materials left over for ALL my programs, menus, table numbers and placecards. The materials included cardstock metallic paper for the pocketfolds, metallic paper for inserts, inner and outter envelopes, ribbons and rhinestone buckles. I printed everything myself. If you want to print on metallic paper you must use a laser printer. It will smudge with an inkjet. I also purchased a laser printer for $380 but I can use it to print out my wedding photos when I'm done with all my DIY projects. I have tons of pictures in my albums under invites, programs and DIYs.
