Cost of going to Hawaii

We are looking into going to Hawaii. We are considering a cruise,but we are also considering just flying there and doing the hotel thing. I was wondering if anyone knew of any multi-island packages that include hotel, airfair, etc. Can you give me details?
We were looking into hotels and quoted $500 per night. I am sorry but that is too much. We are going to be in Hawaii, out exploring. I think we can do much better. Any advice?

check into packages. The Hyatts have a package called the island-hopper package that gives you great rates if you stay for a minumum of 7 nights at 2 or more Hyatts. You also get breakfast thrown in and I think a car too.

Hotels that are in the $500 range are usually the 4-5 star hotels. You can definitely get a better price at a less expensive hotel like the Sheraton or Mariott.

Check into all of the hotels- sometimes that have specials that give you a free night if you pay for 5- that lowers the cost significantly too!

Also- I'd recommend speaking to a travel agent- they might have package specials that we don't know about.
