i think so too - FH thought maybe that was how much they are since everything else with the wedding is soooo expensive!

that is alot but how many are you getting?? I only need a set of 100.
The 2 I love and cant decide between.. one would cost me $400 the other $700
and the $700 is a top of the line really nice invitation.. everywhere else quoted me 1,000 + for it but I shoped around like crazy

I think it depends on what kind of invitations you want. You can easily spend thousands on invitations if you want. I am looking into handmade invitations. They aren't going to be anywhere near $1500 but I am also only having around 130 at the wedding, if I were having more people they could easily run me the same amount of money. Just look around and decide what is important, paper quality, uniqueness etc. Which companies are you considering? Encore could easily run $1500 for invitations. Good luck in your search. Just remember to keep perspective. Think about all the invitations you have received and how much you really cared, if at all, about the invitation, or if it was more about the event in general, hope that helps!

I spent $1,000 on 125 invites, with outer envelopes, inner lined envelopes, response cards with envelopes, reception cards, and tissue paper...

but, that was my big 'splurge' item.

It's all just a preference. I spent $489 on my GOWN...to me, the invites were more important. (and I got lucky and fell in love with an inexpensive gown)

Party City has a pretty decent selection and all the invites are 30% off the book price...

We got 100 invites, reception cards, response cards and it came to $300 with tax....

Ask the vendors on the boards. An ENCORE invitation I found for $750 at a store was quote about $300 cheaper here.

I spend about $1000 on my Encore invitations, not including postage and calligraphy. It all depends on what's important to you.
