Cost of wedding album?

Cost of wedding album?

Please share -- what's the average cost of an album from your wedding photographer?

Met with my photographer yesterday - and while his basic wedding photography package falls within our budget, the cost of the wedding album SHOCKED me (i had no idea!!) -- I admit they are beautiful and obviously very high quality, but how much are these albums marked up?!

Thanks ladies!

The photo album was not part of the package? I know some sell it seperate and I think I got quoted 750 (I think) from one vendor.....

My sisters cost a bit under 2,000. The cost is usually settled in your contract.

The most basic package offered my photographer excludes the album.

Yeah photographer definitely charge an arm & a leg for albums. Your better off either getting a package that includes one already or I know offer the option to purchase later......

I did a price quote online. You chose what you want in your package.
12x12 was $1,000 and 10x10 wasn't too much less.

I'm actually thinking of not doing it and creating something online myself since most photographers give you a CD. Just check that they are edited and original quality.
Save the money now and do it in a few years if I really want it. I'll decide for sure once I pick my photographer.

I got a large package so I dont remember what it cost in the package but ala carte I think it was 1000 for 12x12 w/ 100 pics but we got the lucite cover w/ pic and that was addition 200

Ok he said the albums are 1100 and 1400 depending on size, so I guess that's in the same ballpark as others. And i dont need to decide now, i can decide after the wedding, its the same cost either way.

I agree. I didn't order an album in my package with our photographer as we'll decide whether to get one from her after we see the pictures and after the smoke dwindles from our pockets...
We want to do our own album and layout, but have not found an album we love from any vendor, online. I like the old fashioned albums that are big, matted, guilded edges with gold tip thingies haha etc. I want one that looks like a massive old fashioned dictionary or oversized encyclopedia. If we don't find one after we're married we can still get one from our photographer. She keeps the pics and gives us an option of getting an album with her for up to a year or something like that after the wedding.
We love coffee table albums too and I made my fiance a book with aperture that was like 100 pages and it is awesome. We're definitely making one for the wedding so it can be out and about and messed up a bit with as many pictures as we want. It just doesn't have the thick old fashion pages with traditional photo albums which I want if the photos turn out good.

my package does not come with an album, I think it is like $800-900 to add it but I am probably just going to do it online.

The package we selected had the album but we did not add the parents album. We can do those online onour own to save some money.

I would love to add albums now and now it's done but for us to spend 2-3k extra right now on that is a little silly for us. If you got the money by all means of if you get a really great deal but if you LOVE a photographer go for his basic package and do albums somewhere else later. Just make sure you get all the pics on a cd. Some people love Gina Esposito or Lighthouse or the tons of other awesome photographers out there. If you can't afford the package of your dreams get the basic and you will still get all of the amazing photos you wanted by the artist you wanted. A year after our wedding I won't feel so bad about spending 2-3k for some albums. FH says to do everything now but I rather make sure everything that is definitely needed NOW is done. LOL

With these albums you have to keep in mind the editing and design technique... Theres a large markup but what the next person may be able to do online themselves is def far from what the photography studio will be giving you. I guess it depends on how impt it is to you.

Save your money and do it yourself. Thats what i did. You can find a ton of great websites to create albums like: Mpix.com, Adoramapix.com

Ours was in our package, but for parent albums our photographer actually told us to save money and do it ourselves! So we will def be doing that.
