FH & I want to go to Costa Rica-I don't even know where to begin! I really want to go to the hotsprings but also get in some beach time. Anyone have information on packages that split your time on the country? anyone go there before and actually do that? Only have 7 days to spend there; so not sure if it's wise to try to break it up; or just get the most of our time in one area???
I might just have to make a trip over to the travel agent to find out-having a hard time looking for packages online.
Thanks!

Re: Costa Rica HM
I went there with my Fh two years ago! We wouldve loved to go for our Honeymoon but we really want to go somewhere we hadn;t been before. Def split up the areas you visit since there is so much to do at each place! We flew into San Jose, spent 3 nights in Arenal/La Fortuna area at the Lost Iguana (amazing amazing hotel) Here they have activities like hanging bridges/rainforest, hiking at Arenal (active volcano) hot springs (we went to Tabacon) and ziplining. Then we went to the Manuel Antonio area to the Marriott Los Suenos. Manuel Antonion is a beautiful nature preserve with capuchin monkeys running around! Another option is to go up north to the cloud forest area. Have fun whatever you choose!

Re: Costa Rica HM
Def. go to a travel agent, they can help map out stops for you and let you know if you should rent a car. FH and I are staying at an all-inclusive resort in the Guancaste region. We are going next week! I don't want to be traveling all over and want to relax! Since there is so much to do though it will give us a reason to go back and check out different areas of the country. Goodluck!

Re: Costa Rica HM
it actually wasn't a package, I set everything up myself. I arranged car transport shuttles from the airport to lost iguana, lost iguana to los suenos, and los suenos to airport. I think it was called gray bus line I don't remember. It wasn't that expensive and it was easy. have a great time!

FH and i just went to Costa Rica in June we loved it! keep in mind there is only one international airport and thats in the capital, San Jose which is not coastal so you will have to spend some time traveling to either the pacific or caribbean side. we went to carribbean side and it was awesome. also something else to keep in mind is that there is an exit fee to leave Costa Rica. its nothing high its $26 per person, you pay at the airport. just a heads up because we were surprised as we've never expeirenced this traveling internationally before.

We are flying into Liberia which has an international airport so if you are doing western Costa Rica you don't have to fly into San Jose. Not all airlines fly into the Liberia aiport. For example we couldn't take Jet Blue because of that but both Delta and American Airlines flies into Liberia

Cory is great-i e-mailed her; and she got back to me right away!
She recommended two resort for me to look into-1 near the aernal volcano; the other an all inclusive in the papagayo area. Now i'm so exicted-i've been looking at the pictures of both resorts on trip advisor. Beautiful!! I also looked into the Talbacon (sp). I'm going to compare reviews online and then prices!

Re: Costa Rica HM
Tabacon was pretty but just know tons of tourists come at night, so it is not too private. We stayed at Lost Iguana but went to Tabacon on a full day tour. Lots of people who were not staying at the hotel, including me, were there.

Re: Costa Rica HM
I did the same as piggymel- Arenal/LaFortuna for 3-4 days and then Manuel Antonio for another 3-4 days. It wasn't a honeymoon, just a trip I took for about a week. Booked it all myself, nothing fancy. The only caution I would say is that you need to be prepared to drive from one place to the other...the roads are a little crazy- you'll be driving on some dirt roads along the way, sort of on the edges of mountains.... I found it fun, but some people might be scared. We rented a Jeep liberty (most people drive SUVs there) and made sure to keep our driving to daylight hours (gets dark around 7pm if I recall). It's nothing to change the plans of your trip, just something to be aware of , that;s all. Have a great time! FM me if you have questions.

Go on travelzoo.com they have the split packages on there. Maybe you can find a travel agent on there.
