Costa Rica Honeymoon

Hi all! I heard from a few of my friends that Costa Rica is suppose to be a gorgeous place to visit. FH and I are getting married Sept 6th next year and I was wondering if anyone has visited around that time? im worried about rain but when I was researching it said only parts of costa rica are very rainy during that time and its not a complete wash out. any info would be greatly appreciated! thank you :)

Costa Rica Honeymoon

I went at the end of May. I would not recommend the area we stayed at during our trip because there is no where to really go. We didn't get to see the country the way I hoped we would. But, it was rainy season when we were there. We stayed in Guanacaste. We were lucky it really didnt rain for our 5 days there. It poured the day we flew in, rained a little the next morning, but the rest of the week it was beautiful. I would think staying near the coast you should be okay, but if you move inward to the rain forests you will probably get a lot more rain.

Our wedding is in September (26th) and we would have loved to have gone to Guanacaste-which is the driest region of Costa Rica. After visiting with travel agents and researching, we found that Guanacaste gets about 150 INCHES of rain in September alone. Apparently, roads collapse and bridges become submerged, it's a really big deal and that's why prices are so low then. I would stay far away...we had a hard time choosing, bc it's smack in the middle of hurricane season. We ended up booking Barbados (Crystal Cove all inclusive) because its location makes it outside the hurricane belt and it's sunny pretty much all year. Good luck!!

I went in April and loved it. I went to Arenal and stayed at Tabacon which was beautiful! They have hot springs and a volcano there. I also went to Monteverde Cloud Forest and Manuel Antonio on the Pacific coast. If you are really worried about weather, you can go to Aruba which is outside the hurricane belt. But there will be rain in CR no matter when you go. It is the rainforest. Def worthwhile!
