OK, so- I am all set- he is all set. HYPOTHETICALLY speaking, if I, instead, wanted to be a rock, how would I fashion a sort of turtle shell strap on for my back- to complete the circular appearance of my midsection?
This is a last minute, but brilliant idea. I have my other costume set, but I am all about the matchyness of this.

Agreed- but what can I make it out of? Do they make styrofoam balls in 2.5 foot diameter? Or is it easy enough to glue stacks of styrofoam 3' rounds together, then shape a ball? This really could be funny.
eta- I want the styrofoam on the outside- so I could cut slits in teh sides of the sirt for a belt to go in and hid under and above my belly.

not to rain on your rock parade, but why don't you get a bunch of fake bugs and/ or snakes

Totally with the snakes- just cover myself. But it ditracts from the ability to use my huge belly... I should be his fat friend.
