Could you give a home to an abused (but loving) cat?

Could you give a home to an abused (but loving) cat?

Just got this email, and I have a cat and dog already, but thought maybe someone could give this poor cat a home...

Hi, all. A member of the Cat Network was driving yesterday and saw the car in front of him stop at a stop sign, throw a cat out the window, and drive away. Luckily he was there, and he coaxed the cat over, put it in his car, and drove it home. He can't keep it, though (landlord won't permit), and he's asked if another member of the Network might be able to take it. His best guess is that it's a 1-year-old neutered male. It's got very short hair, is white with some grey markings, and still has its claws. It's apparently a very cuddly lap cat with a loud purr.

He's tried a couple of other ways to place the cat already, but he's not having any luck, since the no-kill shelters are always so overextended and no one ever seems to be willing to adopt a grown cat.

Would you be willing to give it a safe and loving home? Or do you know of someone who's been considering getting a new cat?

what a horrific story!!!
i would love to take it in, but i already have a cat who is 13 and set in his ways.
and he's getting over some oral sugery, so he's not in the best mood these days....
does the cat keep to himself, or is he curious about everything. my cat works best with animals who keep to themselves mostly. otherwise, they invade his space and he gets nasty...let me know....there's a chance i might be able to help him out.....

Thanks palebride! I wasn't the one that found him, but I will email them to get more info. about the personality of the cat and post more later. So horrible what people do to animals!

Try Save A Pet in Port Jefferson Station, tell them the circumstances of how this cat was thrown out the window of a moving car...maybe that will push them to take the cat.

If they have no luck, let me see if my DH can house him in a cage in the waiting room of his hospital...he always gets cats adopted that way.

Thanks Kathy! We have a cat network at Stony Brook where we work to feed, neuter, spay, and adopt out (the babies are the only ones adoptable) the feral cats on campus. So I am checking with other members to see if anyone can take the cat in. I will definitely FM you if no one volunteers.

Thanks! I checked with the person housing the cat now, who says he was following him around the past day...So it sounds like he is social, but we don't know how he is with other cats. I will check out some other options first just in case they wouldn't get along. Thanks again!

I'd say check out that cat place Kathy mentioned...my little cat Gunnar can be really nasty around other cats...he's been an only-cat for 13 years and got used to the good life.
BUT, if all else fails, he can learn to get along with other cats - and has done so in the past...so it's not totally impossible!!

FM me if you don't get any takers on him...a friend of mine was looking for a cat, she prefers a kitten, but she wanted something that was already neutered. She may be interested, I will call her tomorrow. Good luck!
