I think it depends on the contratc. However, Im almost sure there is a law that says if there is time between the concellation and the event and the vendor can re-book, then she is entitled to her money back.
My suggestion would be to call the vendor as a 'fake bride' and ask a whole bunch of questions like youre interested in mtg them and then ask their cancellation policies etc,
