Cousins wedding dilemma

Cousins wedding dilemma

My cousin has been engaged for over 1 year and just recently started wedding planning. I saw her this past Friday and she told me she is getting married 3 weeks after me!

so now I can't count on a majority of my OOT guests to come to my wedding bc they may choose to attend her wedding instead, ecspecially bc most of my OOT guests are her brothers and their families.

She knew about my wedding date since we booked it in January!
I really can't believe people sometimes.

That kinda sux but people can surprise you - your OOT guests just may attend your wedding as well. If I were your family, I would probably attend both weddings without hesitation

Sounds very similar to what I'm going through!!!!
We've been officially engaged since November and have been wedding planning since. We got a phone call from FH's sister a few weeks ago saying that she's engaged and her wedding is 3 weeks BEFORE ours. Now my FILs are mad at US (!) saying that it is 'putting a strain' on them by having to travel twice in a month. But who planned their wedding first? We did!!!!
UGH!

I hear ya!!!!

Re: Cousins wedding dilemma

This is just my opinion, but i just got engaged about 2 weeks ago and as soon as i got engaged, i asked my relatives and all others inportant to me about prior commitments so that things would not conflict. For example, my cousin is in a wedding party next august and that is the month that we are getting married(hopefully) and i asked him about the date etc. His friend who is the one getting married thanked me for being so considerate. he said most people aren't.
i'm sorry about your situation but you dont necessarily know that people wont go to both.
in june i have five weddings and i am all others i know of are going to all of them. they are on the 5th, 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th. i look at it like all of them are important people to me so i am going to all, even though i will probably be broke!

I can totally sympathize with you because my cousin set her date for the SAME DATE AS MINE. Then she changed it for 6 days before mine. Turns out she cancelled the wedding but still.

I would tell her how you feel and maybe she can do something about it. Maybe your mom can talk to her mom too.

When she told me I was like ' oh, that's really close to my wedding' and she didn't seem to care so...
I'm not going to stress over it. I'm sending out my STD this week and hopefully people will take into consideration that we are BOTH family and hopefully they can work it out to attend both... I mean, it is 10 months away and all...
I hope the family can realize that it's an important day for both of us...

all of this did catch me off guard though!
