cover letters

have any of you ever sent out a non-traditional cover letter? i was reading suggestions on monster.com and one of them was to frame it like a list, like

you need:.....
i have:.....

or something like that. i was just wondering if anyone's ever done that and if you received any feedback. or what you hr people think of something like that. i tend to get really long-winded when i write in paragraph form (this post is a case-in-point) so i was thinking maybe a list would be more effective?
