CP from 08 - Sand Ceremony - Where to get supplies?

Ok, we're going to do that sand ceremony, but we don't know where to get the stuff.

Does Micvhael's have colored sand? If so, what dept?
If not what store sells it?

We're also have a tough time finding a sand container. It HAS to have a lid on it, preferably one that seals in really well. I've looked online and can't find much. Is there someplace to get a *nice looking* jar like that?

Sry but I think I have the set that you're probably talking about bc it was in that price range... Pics in my album... The sand i'll be getting from michael's... They def have it although it took me a LONG time to find it in the store... I found it in 2 diff sections... 2-3 lb bags in the wedding section... and 1 lb bags near the kids arts n crafts

we used a wine decanter...it was the only container we liked with a lid. you can find sand at ace or michaels.

Yes that is the one! I LOVE it! I LOVE the heart and the stand! But it's just so pricey

A wine decanter is a great idea, I didn't even think of that.

i sprung for it.... i got it early in the planning when i had basically no budget... i actually got it on ebay for $60 with free personalization... still pricey but it was the best i could get for it at the time

they sell the jars on the fantasy glassworks website. I don't think they're too expensive on there and they engrave 'em with your names & the date. I'm planning on getting mine from another place tho. It's a little more expensive, but I like it a lot. Here's the website:

a sand ceremony is along the same idea as the unity candle...both the bride and groom each have a container of sand (and you can include family, kids,etc also) and then you pour the sand into one large container to represent the joining of 2 lives as 1...yada yada yada...im using this instead of the candles

It's in place of the unity candle. It kinda gives you a nice keepsake (better than a candle, in my opinion). You can google Unity Sand Ceremony and you should find some of the vows that go with it.

So we ended up buying one at Tuesday Morning - it's one of those old school cut glass containers. It's really cool and was only $9.99. So I'll just get some cheap vases to pour the sand from and some sand! Yay!
