FH and I owe a small amount to the fed this year. I forgot to enclose a check or and IOU in with the return... is that a huge deal?

they will bill you - but you will owe interest and penalties on it. you can try to get the penalty waived, but they do not budge on the interest.

So its not a big deal? They will bill us anyway. We will be able to pay it off in full as soon as we get the bill... we had renewals of workers comp, liability and auto insurance due this month. I dont mind paying the extra. Its worth it to not have insurance cancelled

If you send in a payment voucher with the check postmarked by tomorrow, you wont get a penalty.
