crafty brides any advice

crafty brides any advice

I want to start making signs for our save the date. I attached pics of theones I want to make. I have oak tag, card board, ....um that might be it! Lol I bought the sruff a while a go....I think I have stickers so it's not just plain lettering on white signs! I was thinking about to save money rather then buy huge stencils I'll never use again, I thought about printing it on the computer....but idk how I'm getting it to stay down.....

Any advice would be great!!

Print out with the font you want to use first and then transfer it. I did it with printed text onto canvas doing something similar to this:

except I didn't just outline the back of the letters I completely shaded them in with pencil so then when I traced over them, the outline was transferred onto the canvas. Then you can go over them in sharpie or paint and erase any stray pencil marks. It allows to get nice, clean text instead of freehanding it!

If you look at my album I have a sign in my engagement pictures. They sell the hearts for about .50 at joann's or micheals. Then just bought some twine and pushed it threw some holes and sharpie on the hearts.

Did u do it in canvases? Or you think that trick will work on the oak tag or card board display board I got?

I think it should...maybe try the outline technique instead of the shading...it may be a bit less messy for oaktag/cardboard

I love your engagement pics! Is that Argyle Park? That's where I was thinking of doing ours.

I totally hear ya! But some of these signs they have wanted like $40 to $50 for so if I suck it up and make them, all 4 should cost half that!

maybe you can use chalkboard paint? I've been wanting to use it for our welcome sign for the venue.

Yea that's a lot....I had bought a banner with our date for our engagement pics but that was like $20.

I would print out large letters and cut and paste them.
