crafty girls....help with a monogram?

Original post by Aug07OFCbride

Anyone bored and in the mood to make a monogram by chance?? I thought it couldnt hurt to ask! Im going to be printing out 'wishes' to put in our 'take a wish' bowl for guests and who knows, someone may want to keep it as a keepsake so it'd be nice to have a monogram with our initials and date.

any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

I had been struggling with trying to make one, I would read instructions, but it still just wasn't working for me. That tutorial on you tube was SO helpful!

Ladies you are too sweet

I make the monograms on Powerpoint - I find it much easier to work with than Word for the monograms. Although it's not terribly difficult, it can be pretty time consuming because there are so many different aspects to the monograms.

To make the monograms...
I open a document and change the size of the page to something like 4 inches by 3 inches.

Then I insert WordArt for the last name initial. Play with the fonts, colors, size, etc.

Then I insert another WordArt for the first names (Bridename & Groomname) or a WordArt for each of the three parts (one WordArt for 'bridename', one for '&', and one for 'groomname'. Then I play with placement of names, sizes, colors, fonts etc.

I insert one last WordArt for the date. I usually do some with the date spelled out ('October twelfth, two thousand seven') and some with just the month spelled out ('October 12, 2007').

If I want to include a line, I do Draw, Line and do a horizontal line. Then I can change the thickness and color of it with the format object (right click on it and select format object or something like that).

Then I save the document as a powerpoint file. Once that is saved, I do a Save As and save it as a JPG file which can be inserted in a variety of programs or whatever.

HOPE THAT HELPS!
