Crafty people - Help!

Crafty people - Help!

How can I make a cover for a leatherbound photo album? I should have bought one with a plastic sleeve over it to protect if I put something on the front!! Any ideas on how I can preserve the design I do on the cover. It is for my Mother's birthday and it's a big celebration so Im doing a scrapbook with pcitures stories funny anecdotes from friends & family and will give it to her at her party. I was going to create some designs including some pics & clip art & some cool fonts and print it out and cut it out. Do I just glue it? What type of clue? Maybe I should get a book with the plastic overlay on the outside...

Any ideas? Suggestions? Am I making sense? lol

Thanks!

I have been thinking also. I would say to glue on the cover, what embellishments you want, but I do not know how sturdy a cover you can make out of plastic.
I have seen where ladies had made a cover out of material. That maybe an option for ya!

I will keep thinking about it!

yeah...i was stumped too...I think maybe you should leave the leather alone and find a book that is made for this purpose...JMHO

The only thing I can think of is to decopague (sp?) the pictures on the cover, and then cover it with a few coats of clear acrylic paint? I don't know if it's the greatest idea, or if it will work on leather, I've only done it on wood. I guess your best bet would be to buy a new book.

Doesn't crop in style have a clear cover protector?

Didn't see one on the crop in style web site- found this on ebay:

I saw that one also Nora but I think Liz is looking for a cover that can be on the book but you can still look at it. The kind that we already have on our albums. This cover is if you want to put your album in a protective bag (like a ziplock) so it doesnt get ruined!

Lisa- Are you starting again? - just kidding.

I thought what I said was like a clear vinyl cover. I think Karen at SB Central in Farmingville had them.

I didn't even notice- thanks for telling me.

We don't want trouble makers at the crop anyway.

Re: Crafty people - Help!

I think my best bet is to get another book that already has the plastic 'jacket' on it. This way whatever I embellish the cover with, it wont get damaged with normal wear & tear.

Thank you all for putting your creative juices to work on this one. I appreciate it.
