FH and I are thinking about hiring someone from craigslist to do an engagement shoot down here in Philly (since our wedding photogs will not come down to philly even if we pay a travel fee and we REALLY want e-pix down here)
i dont really know how it works...should we meet with the guy first??? or as long as everything seems cool via email, we should just meet for the shoot??

If you found someone I would maybe say to make a date for the two of you to meet up with the photog to discuss in person, maybe have him/her bring some samples of their work.

That's what we did. We met up with her at a busy place the day of the shoot and went from there. She ended up doing such a good job on our e-pics that we hired her for the wedding!

Craigslist is usually ok as long as you have the ability to look at their websites and check out reviews/references. Talk on the phone with the photog and get a good sense on his/her personality to see if you'd enjoy spending time and would be comfortable with the person. That is essential when taking these types of photos.

I know Cindy (Hopeless_Romantic) got a photographer off of craigslist for her engagement party and the guy did an amazing job on their pics!!

I think Jamie's photographer is from philly actually, I would speak to her and ask about him, he is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
