My uterus is trying to kill me from the inside (sorry if that sounds graphic) - ibuprofen is no match for them today.
Does midol really work? Help!

Re: Cramps
the only thing that ever works for me is ibuprofin. How many did you take? My dr. told me its ok to take more than 2 if I have two. I have taken 3 at a time and it helps. Feel better!

Midol helps for me - I usually double the dose - or it does nothing for me. The dosages they recommend are very conservative - for obvious legal reasons.

Re: Cramps
I know how you feel, I always get killer cramps! Take 800 mg of motrin, that should do that trick! That is the prescription dose, so you are not going to OD on it. You can take that every 8 hours.

Re: Cramps
I took 3 ibuprofen - I'm tempted to take more but I don't think that's a good idea.

I live by midol when I have cramps like that! I keep them everywhere, my purse, my wallet, my desk drawer, in my car, in the medicine cabinet, in the kitchen...

Re: Cramps
You can also try using one of those therma patch heating pads. They work pretty good and last a long time. I've used them at work when I've had a crick in my neck or really bad cramps. That might help you

The ONLY thing that works for me is ALEEVE. I used to have horrible cramps before Aleeve came out and had to be on prescription Naproxin. Thankfully Aleeve has entered the OTC world! Anyway....Aleeve, Heating Pad and rest.

I have to agree here. Aleve is unbelievable at alleviating cramps. Ibuprofen works too, but Aleve is faster (and lasts longer). Don't overdo the Aleve though. It can't be taken 3 and 4 at a time like Advil and Motrin.

Re: Cramps
I also have a prescription for Motrin 800 for that time of the month. You should ask your GYN to prescribe them for you. I swear by them. That and a heating pad. So you are definitely safe to take 5 motrins. I've tried midol and it just doesn't work for me. Also, lay off the salt.

Re: Cramps
take 3 of the gel advils (one serving is one pill)
3 will do the trick
midol helps a little but it needs to be taken in conjunction with an ibproufin

Just don't take any asprin product until 48 hours after you've taken you're last Aleve. You could get some nasty sideeffects. It's all listed on the box.
