I have been doing a lot of thinking about what to do about drinking and driving... I want all my friends to have a great time at my wedding but dont want any of them driving. I know money is tight for everyone so I was thinking of getting 'crash rooms' at a hotel and just renting like one or two rooms and have everyone who cant drive stay in the rooms... any ideas about that???

Re: crash rooms
That is also an idea I had as well because I would feel terrible if something happened to one of my guests, but budget is tight and I cant afford to get rooms, also since there are almost 250 guests we will be inviting. But I will put local hotel information in the invitiations just incase the guests want to get their own room. But i'm not even sure where I am having my wedding yet so if it's not too far, then it should be ok.
Good luck

Re: crash rooms
I originally was thinking about renting a party bus or coach bus and have everyone meet at the hotel after the cer. and then take it to the rec and then back to hotel but since Im havin rec at east wind and there are rooms there I dont have to do that but they also offer shuttle busses for free to other hotels so I was then thinking about one crash room at east wind and then doing another at a holiday inn to save some money... but dont know what im doin I figure if I spend 200 to save someones life (god forbid) or having some one get a dwi its worth it

Re: crash rooms
This idea makes a lot of sense but I dont´know how it would work out- How would you decide who stays there. (what if alot of people need to stay there) Also certain hotels will give you a problem if its too many people crashing in one room.
Another idea I´ve heard is talking to a cab company and getting special rates for the night. If there are people that have drunk too much you tell them to take one of these cabs to wherever they´re going. The issue is that you have to see if your hall would let the cars stay there till the next day.

Re: crash rooms
My friend did that at her wedding.
At the end of the night it was offered to me and my fiance but we were both totally sober because we had planned on driving ourselves home plus the wedding was upstate so we had a long ride ahead of us. We asked why she'd offer it to us when we were obviously not drunk...
She said she had put 3 rooms aside at the hotel for that purpose but everyone had figured out a way home and if you're not planning to have somewhere to stay you're going to be more responsible (not always but in this case everyone was) and the rooms went to waste. So she was literally offering them to everyone at the end of the night so at least it wouldn't be a total waste of money.
in the end, it was.

Re: crash rooms
I honestly think, most people who know they're going to drink at a wedding, plan something in advance. They either get a room, have a DD, or call a cab. That being said, it may end up being a waste of money. People who unexpectadly get drunk, can probably just grab a ride w/ someone else or call a cab.

Re: crash rooms
I think you could suggest to your friends a motel room for the night...somewhere just to crash and something inexpensive. This way you don't have to worry about them driving home that night. They could cab to the hotel or some places have shuttle service.

ITA - I think people know what to expect at a wedding and plan in advance.

This may be true...but i think that is really nice of you to think in advance for them!
