Crate & Barrel glasses - prone to breaking?

Crate & Barrel glasses - prone to breaking?

I've heard from some that C&B glasses break easily. I wanted to order a few sets online, but I'm worried about them arriving broken.

Has anyone experienced this, and if so, did they exchange them?

Thanks!

I bought some of their glasses, and they they are mostly all broken. Wouldn't buy their glasses ever again. The ones I have from BBB have held up the longest.

I think any classes that are too thin that you put in teh dishwasher will break no matter what brand they are. We got ones from a guest of ours from kentucky & none of them broke & they sent us about 20 total. They are thick classes & don't look like they would break unless you drop them. I just think that after some time you are going to break glasses there is nothing you can do about it.

My sister bought her everyday glasses from Crate and Barrel and they chip all the time...they will exchange but she is always exchanging them. Hope that helps.

I don't know about their glasses but here's what happened to us: (a few weeks ago)

My mom bought her good china set from them about 5 years ago. She put them in the dishwasher and they cracked in the middle of the plate (through the glazing) ...the saleswoman called them 'crazed' Anyway, the dishes say 'Dishwasher and Microwave safe' Well obviously they're not! I called up C&B for her and they told me they would give us credit for the 5 damaged plates...no replacement b/c they are discontinued. She didn't want an incomplete set so she's keeping them. I think I am going to call the manufacturer for her though but that's just insane! Needless to say I don't think I am going to buy anything that can break from C&B.

I wouldn't worry too much. Glasses break, you can't avoid it. I, too, love the styles of glasses that C&B offer. I'm not sure if I want to purchase these on my own and risk the breakage, or just register for a set of Luigi Bormioli on BB&B that I like, but not love.

we put both glass and plastic cups on our registry - if they break, we'll have to replace them.

We've had C&B glasses break and other types break - I think it depends more on the style of glass & the handling. We go for thinner walled glasses and always use the dishwasher so I'm annoyed but not surprised when I get a broken one out of the dishwasher. I don't think it is specific to C&B though.
