Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I recently had a very bad experience with my Fortunoff registry and ended up canceling it, so I would not recommend that store. I know that is not the norm though.... lots of people love it, which is why I was so surprised and disappointed with all the problems. Feel free to FM me for more info.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I love both stores and seriously considered using them. I think the PB has a little bit higher quality stuff but nor as much choice. Crate and barrell has everything...small kitchen appliances, cookware that PB might not have.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I've had good experiences with both. No reason why you can't register in both stores.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I like C+B style more and our house is filled with stuff from them BUT on a practical note realize that any returns or gift certs you get to PB can als obe used at Hold Everything and Williams Sonoma whereas C+B is only at C+B/

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

Thanks for your responses everyone...that actually did help a lot even though it was very mixed!
I am still not sure which one, but I definitely can't do both because we're probably registering @ Fortunoff's also, so I'd really like to keep it to just two registries..
Thanks again!

Bump.

Is it true that C7B's glassware breaks very easily? I registered for all of my glassware there

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I did both (plus fortunoff). they're really for different things. i did C&B for fun kitchen stuff and pottery barn for entertaining and decorational stuff.

ETA good experience with both!

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

Im thinking that pottery barn has more things that are decorative than functional. If you are looking to choose from a varied selection of practical things, I'd go to C and B.

I like Pottery Barn...we are registered there. I had bought a piece of furniture frm Crate & Barrell a few years ago and it was damaged.

Thanks. I am just thinking that maybe we should have gone with the less expensive machine made as opposed to blown glass.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I'm registered at Crate and Barrel and Fortunoff.... almost everyone has gotten us things off of Crate and barrel and everything has been great!

IMO Macy's home dept is not that reliable, I've gone there several times with my mom to get forks, plates, etc. and boxes were opened or items were missing.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I chose Pottery Barn. I have heard from a few people that C&B's stuff (especially glassware) breaks easily.

I am also registered at Macy's. More locations, prices are great for everyone because of the sales.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I registered at Fortunoff and Pottery Barn. I love PB's stuff so it was the obvious choice for me, but I will say I found the registry to be kind of a pain in the but t. They are forever discontinuing things so you really have to stay on top of it. I did put the 10% registry completion coupon to good use though, I bought an armoire, two nightstands, a headboard and a TV stand and saved a ton of money!

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I registered at PB - there are no C&Bs near me so honestly I had no desire to register there. Plus I am obsessed with PB - esp. the furniture (and I plan to add a bunch of stuff right before the wedding and use the 10% after-wedding discount to buy it )

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

I didn't register at either but if yu are going to go with Fortunoff or Macy's (I'd go with Fortunoff. JMO) I would register at Pottery Barn. They have the accessories that the other store won't have. Anything you can register at Fortunoff for you can probably also register at Crate & Barrel for.

Re: Crate & Barrel vs. Pottery Barn

my best friend registered at pottery barn two years ago and all she did was complain that everything kept getting discontinued! on the other hand, their linens are soooo pretty...
