Crazy and gross question

Crazy and gross question

First, let me warn you this is gross.....

But, my LIbrides have been such a help before, I figured I would take a chance.

I am doing a science project with my nephew. We were supposed to grow maggots, YES Maggots from fly eggs. We did it, but we did not make a perfect enviornment for the flies and they died before they laid larvae (maggots).

So, my nephew is very upset. This is all fine, but I still want to teach him the lesson of the project. So my idea was to buy maggots and show him the outcome.

Hospitals and fish stores sometimes have them.
Or maybe some science teachers would know.

So here is goes:

Does anyone, as crazy as this sounds, know where I can buy maggots? I tried online, but I am not having much luck.

Thank you for your help in advance.

There's a store in Seaford, it's called D&J Reptile. It's actually an exotic pet store, that specializes in reptiles. Ask if they have 'phoenix worms.' They're basically the same things. Phoenix worms are a food that's very nutritious for bearded dragons. But they should do the trick for you.

I know this b/c I have two bearded dragons and an iguana......I spend A LOT of time at D&J. Never thought I'd be a reptile person....who knew???

Re: Crazy and gross question

usually any pet store should have them as food for certain pets.. just call ahead to save yourself a trip in case

my brother's bearded dragon eats crickets, meal worms, wax worms, etc and I know he buys them at our local pet stores.
