One of my FI's GM was supposed to go away and elope. Turned out they didn't elope cause of family reasons. Then we find out from a third party that they are getting married at a hotel downtown. No invitation nothing. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was just a family thing. Here's the kicker. My FI and him have coffee last week and he mentions that they are having a wedding reception at his restaurant on Easter Sunday. Now I'm not a stickler for etiquette, but come on. Not invite anyone to the wedding then throw a party and let people know a week ahead of time. Nobody even got an invitation. He is calling now to see if people are coming. Do we go? If so do we bring a gift? How much do we spend? Is this crazy or is it just me?

Re: Crazy wedding invitation
I think it's very unusual, but being he's in your wedding party you probably don't want to cause an argument. You might be able to decline if you have Easter plans, and they should understand that. As for a gift, that's a tough question. Are they registered somewhere?

If your family celebrates Easter, I'd probably decline and give the holiday as the reason, and then buy them something off their registry. You just don't want to make any waves since the guy is a GM in your wedding.

Re: Crazy wedding invitation
id probably also decline for it being easter family holiday, but send a gift off the registry...
maybe you can show up for the ceremony then go to your family?

Re: Crazy wedding invitation
That's the thing there is no ceremony. They got married about a month ago and we found out from a third party that they got married. This seems like an ad-hoc reception.

Re: Crazy wedding invitation
I'd go. I'd get themsoetmhign off the regisrty- not too Expensive. they were goign to elope- so I gues they don't wnata big fuss. SO this reception is probabaly a last minute thing so peopel don't feel left out. and its at his restauarant so they didn't need much notice. they should have realized people may have Easter plans though. Its probabably sotly family though, who will be getting togehter for Easter anyway. ( if they are Christian) so, yes, he should have sent some sort of invitation, but its seems really impomptu, so I'd go if I could, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go. ( like cancel plans or travel far, etc)

I say go unless you have plans that can not be broken since it is Easter Sunday.

I agree with you - and furthermore why the heck did they plan it for Easter? I bet a lot of people dont show up. I am peeved that I have to go to a 30th bday party the night before!
