FH has the AAdvantage card from Citicards... he accumulated so many miles with it that it paid for 2 rt rickets to Italy for our honeymoon.

Both Dh and I have the Aadvantage card. His card alone paid for our upgrades on all four flights back and forth to Hawaii for our HM.

American Express! I love my Amex Card. I pay everything with it. The good thing about the basic Amex is that you have to pay it off in full every month so you don't accumulate debt. In addition, you can use the 'rewards miles' for almost ANYTHING. You can transfer them into frequent flier accounts or if you don't have enough miles for a full free ticket, you can use their 'pay with points' system where they credit you for the points you do have.
You can get so much using your points, statement credits, free tickets on ticketmaster, gift cards to restaurants, hotels, amazon, etc.
FH and I are flying FIRST CLASS to Hawaii round trip using a combination of my Delta FF miles and my Amex points for our HM. It would have cost about $2,200 per person. We are paying a TOTAL of $621!!! That's $621 for two tickets - can't be beat.

Re: credit card help
Stupid question...do you have to pay off the balance to get the points, or do you get them automatically with the purchase...
