Credit Cards w/ Miles or Hotel points?

Is anyone paying their Wedding expenses with a honeymoon for airline miles or hotel points (Delta/Starwood Etc)...

Most of our vendors we are paying in cash so that 'tax is included'... my italian friends will know.. haha

But our hall/dresses/tuxes/gifts etc... I think would be a good amount to get some miles or hotel points

Anyone doing this?

We used the Chase Sapphire card to pay for a lot of wedding expenses. Although, we accumulated a lot of points, we did not use it to pay for our honeymoon, in fact our honeymoon went on the same card and we used the points for our 1st anniversary trip. Be careful not to carry a balance, the interest charges can eat up any savings IMO.

FH and I are doing the same thing. Whatever wedding expense that we can't save tax on by paying cash is going on the credit card. We also put the hm on the credit card and are planning on using the points for our 1 year anniversary.

I have an AMEX with Delta miles and yes, I am being careful on not carrying balances on it either. I'm not sure what I can use the miles for exactly yet but using it for the 1st year anniversary seems like a good idea if I can't use it for the honeymoon.

If we cant save tax by using cash it all goes on our JetBlue AMEX. All of our major purchases go on there & then I pay it off every month.

We're paying for 3 out of 4 honeymoon hotels with a combo of Chase and Amex points. We're paying cash for whatever wedding expenses we have. I don't know whether to be happy about the fact that we spend enough money to cover 9 nights in nice hotels, or cry about it.

We are going to try to do this (obviously paying it off, not keeping a running bill) so we can get a free flight for our HM :)
