Crest Hollow Brides

Just wondering if any of you are having an outdoor cocktail hour and what you are doing about music. Also, my wedding is in August ..when do I have to call to go over the menu and stuff......Oh and one more question. I noticed on my contract that it say if you use the house florist you get a $10 credit per table...does crest hollow give that to you or is the florist supposed to take that off?
Thanks for you help

Cresthollow bride here. I am having our cocktail outside, weather permitting. I think whoever plays your music for your ceremony, if you are having that there, I am, they would, or if not your dj should. I am not sure about the menu thing b/c my wedding is june of 04. so I have plenty of time, you can call them and ask. Who are you dealing with over there? The florist you deal with is supposed to take the $10 off per centerpiece. Let me know if you have any other question.

Hi!
I was going to have the cocktail hour outside, until I found out there was an extra charge for the set up. So, I think I'll be changing that to the inside now. Not just b/c of the $$$, but I'm in October, and I thought it also might be chilly

You've got plenty of time to go over the menu if your 2004. They usually do that w/ you 2 months before the wedding. Then finalize everything 2 weeks before the wedding.

What room do you have? I'm in the Empire room.

Very nice!!!!
Have you heard that the liquor there is not top shelf? This is on my list of questions for them.. but I'll be highly upset if after paying all this money and happy to be at the Crest Hollow, if it is not top shelf liquor at the wedding

Another Crest Hollow Bride here. We picked our menu out on Thurs. night. There is sooooo much food! We're getting married outside, and also having the cocktail hour outside. We're having strings play for our outdoor ceremony. No music for the cocktail hour. Our reception is in the Suburban room. Who is your BM? I'm using Chariles, he's a really nice guy.

I am using mitchell, he is really nice and accomodating. I heard the same thing and I asked him and he said yeah we use absolut and a couple other top shelf, but he said they don't have bailys. I don't know the true answer, ask charles and see what he says.

Thanks guys....I guess i should plan to pick out the menu in the beginning of June then. I'm glad to hear that someone is not having music for the outside cocktail hour because I have been thinking about doing that also since I'm already paying the extra $550 to have it outdoors. I wish I would have known that in the beginning about the cocktail hour music not being allowed to be amplified. I probably cpuld have gotten my DJ at a lower price since he will now be playing an hour less.
Oh....we are in the Plaza room and my BM is Jeff Saber.

Dani- My BM is Jeff also- do you know if he's back from his trip?

How do they work on getting the ceremony room cleared and prepared for another event's cocktail hour and then get the same room prepared for the reception of the prior event?

I am having my event in the Plaza. He said that the cocktail hour is in another room- how do they do this??

I am having problems with the people doing the ceremony music- I want them to play for the cocktail hour also (esp since they are charging the same amount if they play for 1 hour as 5 hours) but with the rooms changing, the time it takes to move their equipment, the cocktail hour will be half over!!

Re: Crest Hollow Brides

They told me that a cocktail hour is supposed to be a smaller thing than the wedding so a small part of the room is blocked off and all the tables are usually set up, so when this is over they just pull the tables out to the floor and clean up the cocktail tables. As for the dj, mine told me that they bring a seperate small set up for that so they can just set up the main thing in the room you are having your reception in and just bring the smaller set up to the ceremony or cocktail.

MV...I was worried about the top shelf thing too and we questioned them on it. One places version of top shelf is not another. Our minds were put at ease this past summer at a wedding there. They served Kettle One Vodka, which to many is better than Absolute, they also had Baily's. We requested a few bottles of Absolute behind the bar in our contract as well just in case. But really, don't worry about this..they have quality liquor. The guests who are drink saavy will know to ask for the name brand they want and they'll likely get it.

Is this true that they do not use top shelf??

Re: Crest Hollow Brides

No, it's not. All of our liquor was top shelf.

Re: Crest Hollow Brides

Did you have to tell them what kind you wanted or was the bar all set up with a variety? What room were you in? Thanks

Re: Crest Hollow Brides

We asked what brands they used on certain liquors. They use Kettle One vodka (which IMO is better than Absolute, but we requested a few bottles of Absolute anyway), they also used Seagrams 7, Baily's....nothing cheapo! No Gordon's vodka or anything.

We had Suburan for our reception, Startlight for our ceremony, and the upstairs Terrace for cocktail hour. It was absolutely beautiful!!
