Cruise Suggestions

FH and I are talking about taking a cruise in August/September before he starts grad school. Any suggestions as to what we should look for? I've never been on a cruise before!

Re: Cruise Suggestions

What kind of budget are you working with? Are you active types or sipping pina colada types? How much time do you have?

August/September on a budget I'd suggest Bermuda out of NY. No airfare costs, and a relaxing tropical experience.

If you are looking for a more active trip, and have money to work with, I'd go to Alaska.

I have a fabulous cruise travel agent if you need a recommendation of who to shop with. She is really helpful and always seems to have to lowest price.

For general advice/reviews a great web site is www.cruisecritics.com

Happy planning!!!

Re: Cruise Suggestions

We just took our first cruise for our honeymoon in April and loved it. We took the Voyager of the Seas out of Miami (Royal Caribbean Cruise Line). The ports were Labadee, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I would recommend it to anyone. I have some pics at home I can post later if you'd like. If you are interested and want more details, just let me know.

Re: Cruise Suggestions

My advice is DO NOT take the Norweign Sea!!!! We took it last year and I heard they were refurbishing it, it was awful, old, smelly, spoiled food, no air conditioning etc.

Re: Cruise Suggestions

Our travel agent told us that Carnival is a lot of fun and has lots of activities to choose from.

Re: Cruise Suggestions

DH and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon. We took the Carnival Conquest to the western carribean and stopped at Montego Bay, Grand Caymen and Cozumel. Carnival was great...always different shows/activities to choose from, a great spa, casino, etc. The excursions on land were very well organized and the staff was top-notch. If you have any questions, please ask or FM me...

Re: Cruise Suggestions

My suggestions are:
-Go on the newest ship you can afford
-Do research on the line and make sure it matches up with what you are looking for
-Check the internet prices as those are usually the cheapest
- Once you book, keep checking the prices as many lines will refund you the difference if the costs go down

Re: Cruise Suggestions

I went on a cruise a year and 1/2 ago (thats were I met my FH actaully and it wasn't a singles cruise). It was on Royal Carribean and its was beautiful. My favorite days were the ones we were at sea, the water was so blue and at night it is pitch black. It is a little tiring going to all the islands, but so beautiful.

Re: Cruise Suggestions

i've been on 4 carnival cruises and loved them all!!!! for HM, we're taking a princess cruise.

send a FM to cruiseone - they're a vendor on this site and they are awesome!!! brian and dawn helped us with the HM planning (which we had to do twice thanks to RCCL) and they will meet or beat any internet price.

Re: Cruise Suggestions

Keith and I cruised to Bermuda with Celebrity Cruises last year. It was awesome and I highly recommend it. We left from NYC, so no airfare
