My DH and I are thinking about taking a cruise. I was wondering what your experiences are and what cruise lines are the best.
Thanks so much.

Re: Cruises
We went on a Southern Carribean cruise (Carnival Destiny) for our honeymoon. We had an awesome time. Definitely would recommend. If you go on one, make sure you try to get a room with balcony and one that is positioned on an upper deck in the middle of the ship (you feel less of the rocking).
My MIL doesn't like Carnival bc there are usually kids (they didn't bother me). But I have heard good things about Royal Carribean, Holland America, Norwegian from her.

Re: Cruises
we will be traveling on our 13th cruise next month. Love them. They are the best, most relaxing vacation. It's like a traveling hotel that stops in different places. We have only done 3 cruise lines. Home lines which no longer does cruises. Disney for when the kids were little. And Royal Caribbean. We love Royal lines. This will be our 6th cruise with them. Our son and daughter and her FH and FIL and a few family and friends will be going on this next one. Total 20 traveling together. We love them!

Re: Cruises
We took Royal Caribbean 'Voyager of the Seas' on our honeymoon and it was fantastic!! I wish I were still there [sigh...]
its the second biggest ship next to the Queen Mary. It left from NJ (used to leave from NY ) and is a 10-day cruise.. their private island in Haiti, Jamaica, Cayman Island and Bahamas. We had the best time
The amount of food was SICK (but sooo delish) and if you ever stopped eating, there was so much else to do.. rock climbing wall, 4 pools, casino, gym, spa, basketball courts, mini golf.. shopping, like a mini mall right in the place.. There was even a ice skating rink!! Many different shows per night, many other places to eat , so many bars.. we drank & eat nonstop. You wouldn't even know you were on a ship, it was awesome.
Oh and I did i mention the AMAZING food?? In 10 days I gained 10 pounds you better believe I got my moneys worth You cannot give this girl unlimited food and expect her to be good

I agree totally. I was on the Adventure of the Seas this past June (both RCCL and in the 'Voyager Class' AKA HUGE SHIPS!) and thought it was amazing! So much for everyone to do (it was a family reunion trip with all ages going) and the food was fantastic. They were so accomodating to DH and I who are vegetarian. I wouldn't cruise with anyone else anymore. Feel free to ask any questions!

Re: Cruises
My FI and I went on the Carnival Sensation 2 years ago with 2 other couples. We had a really great time. The only negative thing was that there were soooo many kids. It was Easter break, so it was worse than I imagine it would normally be. I am a teacher, so I really have no choice but to take vacations at the same time as every child in America! The main bar/club on the ship that was supposed to be the 'happening' place to go, as previous guests told us, was actually transformed into a teen club for the week we were there. No adults were in there at all, it was kind of funny because you could see so many parents lingering around the outside trying to get a peek at what was going on inside! The food was pretty good, the cabins were comfortable, staff was really nice and overall it was a good trip.

Re: Cruises
I've been on 2 carnival cruises, and 1 Celebrity cruise. I loved them both! but the Carnival one was more 'younger crowd' and more 'fun' (funship!) and Celebrity was more 'fancy' and 'formal'. but BOTH were excellent!
for the price, you can't beat a cruise! and everythign is there for you on the ship, whatever you want to do! so it's awesome!

Re: Cruises
We went on a Disney Cruise for our Honeymoon, and had a fantastic time ON the boat. Things leading up to the boat weren't great, but once we got on, it was great!! (I gained 7 pounds!)
I guess the thing to say is - Don't go during Hurricane season!

Re: Cruises
I have gone on a cruise with my DH for the past 3 years!
For our Honeymoon, we went with Disney...nothing could beat that, but they are very expensive!!
Last year we went on the Carnival Destiny...and the boat was old. We really didn't like Carnival.
This summer we went on the Golden Princess...which was amazing!!! We went to St. Lucia, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, and Barbados. I'm definately going on Princess from now on.
Also...I highly recommend a balcony room!!!!

Re: Cruises
Carnival Fantasy Sept. 2002 and May 2004
We had a BLAST- there was always something to do. There was PLENTY of food and drinks, too. We went on a few excursions, which we like also.

We also cruised on Adventurer of the Seas.. oh my god it's HUGE!!!! It was the best!! Would do it again in a heartbeat.. Loved it and the amount to do on the ship was amazing and the food was delicious! My parents are faithful Norwegian cruisers who just got back from the Dawn that leaves out of Manhattan.. they loved it and we are going on that one in April.. can't wait!!!!!!!

Re: Cruises
We went on a cruise for our Honeymoon, we went up north to Maine and to Halifax...
We went during hurricane season, and there was remanents of a huricane hitting up north and prevented us from stoppin gin Maine, but the cruise line made up for it with plenty of activities and free drinks.. we had a blast... We used Royal Carribbean and If i remember correctly it was the Voyager of the seas too..
We were the first ship to ever dock overnight in Halifax.. And we had soo much fun in Halifax...
I HIGHLY recommend a Balcony room, its great to sit outside and look at the stars over the sea while you are on the way to your destination, theres nothing to describe it.

Re: Cruises
I've been on Cunard (would not recommend - the crowd was older and so was the ship), Norwegian, and Celebrity. Both Norwegian and Celebrity were wonderful - Norwegian is a little more casual. I've been to the southern Caribbean, Eastern Caribbean, Bermuda and the Mediterranean. Bermuda is the most cost effective (no airfare - you leave out of NY) but I loved the Mediterranean the most.
