cry packs

cry packs

I wanted to do the cry packs in the little envelope and then I found inexpensive packs of tissues, which I thought would be better. I'm having trouble figuring out what to wrap them in. Tissue paper is too transparent, and I think that wrapping paper is too stiff. Should I go back to putting one or two tissues in an envelope or do you girls have any suggestions as to what I can wrap the individual tissue packets in? I know its sounds silly, but I'm stressing out over this.

Re: cry packs

Why dont you just make stickers for either side and stick it on them.

You want to wrap them? I like the little envelop made from paper. Or you can buy the tiny little white gift bags and put them in there. I am just having a hard time getting the wrapping idea.

Do they have to be folded in a specific way? If not just fold them so they fit in the envelope.

Re: cry packs

As they are right now, they're actual packs of tissues. I think if I printed labels for both sides it would look sloppy. I wanted to wrap the packets in pretty paper and then have a clear label that says 'For your tears of joy' and our names and date. Do you get what I mean?

Re: cry packs

oohhh ok sorry. Are the packages just clear plan tissues? Try tracing paper..may sound strange, but it is thicker than tissue paper and then put the label on them.

Thanks, I'll try that. I've tried a few things so far and nothing is getting the exact 'look' that I want.

Re: cry packs

Why not wrap them in tulle and ribbon? You can buy a decent roll of tulle for $2 or $3 at walmart. Then buy colored ribbon that matches your scheme.

Re: cry packs

maybe this will help - these are directions I once got. If it's easier fm me your email and I can forward that way too... But I leave work at 5pm.
sorry - the template won't copy, it's a pdf file.

Tissue Holders

Forgive the template’s crudeness. My mother did a great job making it. She measured every line to make sure it was perfect. Then I come along, trace it (poorly), and add dotted lines freehand. So, keep in mind that the dotted lines are just a guide. If you saw these tissue holders up close, you’d see that my mom did a great job.

Trace the template (in Adobe file) onto the paper you are using for the tissue holders.

Place tissues on the center (E) and fold tab A up on dotted line.

Fold tab B on dotted line and use glue to affix to tab A.

Fold tab C on dotted line and use glue to affix to tab B.

Fold tab D on dotted line and use the seal of your choice to affix to the bottom half of tissue holder.

Tips and Ideas:

I found that scrapbook paper works very well for this holder. Cardstock is too thick to fold.

This holder is designed to hold 5 tissues. If you want to use any entire package, you may want to add a centimeter or two to every side of the template.

I used a glue gun to glue the sides down. This worked very good.

I bought seals to finish off the holders. Originally, though, I planned to use the leftover paper from cutting out the holders to make labels. I also considered using wax seals. (Check out www.fauxwax.com for some fake, but very real-looking wax seals that you can use in your glue gun.)

I found packages of tissues for dirt cheap at Building 19. (If you don’t have one in your area, try a dollar store or discount store, like Family Dollar.) I got ten packages for 79 cents. Pretty good, huh?

I bought the scrapbook paper at a craft store. I got mine at AC Moore, but Michaels also has it. I bought a package of sixteen sheets of paper in 8 different patterns for 6.99. The paper was 12 x 12, so I was able to get two holders per sheet. Therefore, for $6.99, I was able to make 32 tissue holders. And, I bet I could have done it even cheaper if I had been willing to wait for a sale.

You can get one holder per piece of 8.5 x 11 paper. You can get two holders per piece of 12 x 12 paper.

Specifically about the holders my mom made:

My mother (I helped, but she did most of it) made 96 holders. Basically, we decided to make enough for every female guest. My fiance thinks we’re crazy. He asked me, “Do you actually think every single woman there is going to cry?” He doesn’t seem to understand that they might appreciate the holder as a keepsake. Men!

I bought silver labels at AC Moore, 12 for $1.25.

That brings the total cost for 96 holders to $34.92 plus tax. Other than the tissues, I really didn’t try to look for bargains (I was just so anxious to start on them!) So, I am sure it can be done cheaper than that.

I plan to have my 11 year old cousin pass them out at the front of the church. She will hold them in a basket and pass them out to the female guests.

Below are pictures of the seals I used, and a few samples of the paper I used, if you are interested at all. (Probably not, but hey, who knows? It might provide some inspiration.) I used paper in shades of red, gray, and black, as these colors all appear in my wedding. I also used plain silver seals to close the holders. I did not write anything on the outside (a la Martha) because there is already a pattern and I didn’t want it to be too busy.
