cubicle woes

cubicle woes

Our cubicles are set up like this

The space to the right is corridor and wall

---------------
I Computer
I me
I
-------------
--------------
I Computer
I coworker
I
--------------

The visitors to coworker tend to stop in my cubicle and talk to her over the cube wall (with their back to me).

How do I stop them from coming in? (asides from puting a rope and seen unwelcome.

Say to them 'Go around to the otherside so you don't have to yell over the cubicle.

Re: cubicle woes

I would just tell them to please go into their cube because they are distracting you.

I hate when people do that

Re: cubicle woes

How often do you have to deal with this?

Danielle&Scott Posted:

Re: cubicle woes

I usually have to deal with the people that just walk into your cube and dont knock. The way my cube is set up, my back is facing where the person would walk in. I dont usually turn around, even though I see them as soon as they come near me in the computer screen. Like to make them wait until they knock on the desk or open their mouths.

Re: cubicle woes

I would either tell my co-worker behind me to invite her visitors into her cube or tell the rude people they are distracting you and to step around to the other side of the wall. If that doesn't work, I would put something there so they can't stand there.

I have tried telling people to move, but I can't always tell them. This happens so often. I have also mentioned this to coworker, but no actions have been taken on her part.

Can you put something there? A plant? Your CPU? A small file cabinet?

Re: cubicle woes

This is completely obnoxious!!!

Have you tried telling your boss if telling the coworker and/or offenders has not helped?

I seriously would KILL someone coming into MY cube to talk to someone else!!!

Try putting up a hook and hanging your coat there?

Re: cubicle woes

Get some boxes from the mail room and put them on the floor in the exact spot where the offendersw ould be standing. You can also put a post-it on there with 'do not move', or 'Alina's back-up documents' or something like that! Also, one of thoses big plants from Home Depot will work as well!

Re: cubicle woes

I would probably try to put some type of blocking up.

alina Posted:

Re: cubicle woes

I think I may put an empty box there. I have a chair that I keep, but if I place it there, I am completely blocked off. And my coat is already hanging in that area, and doesn't stop people from stopping by.

Box it is for now.

I like the box idea.

I recently changed jobs, and went from an office to a cube. I hate cubes I need to get one of those mirrors so I can see who is walking up behind me, people come in and scare the sh@t out of me all the time.

Re: cubicle woes

The box is very good.

Do you have one of those cubicles that you can hang small hooks? If so can you get a cheap mirror or something that might break if they lean on it? Maybe the embarrassment (sp?) may prevent them from doing this.
