gosh, what is up with them? it's on their land? My church has a nice shrine/grass area that would be perfect. I guess I will have to wait until we finally meet with the priest again, next year

I think you have to get married at the altar. It sounds like a perfectly reasonable request to me so maybe you will get lucky!!

i am becoming an 'expert' on catholic marriage rules but i could be wrong! if the shrine area is outdoors it is most likely a definite NO. as far as i have experienced, catholic priests will only marry you indoors.....you can still ask but don't be surprised if it's a no. i kind of had the same situation but mine is an interfaith marriage and i wanted it outside and so far all the priests i have spoken to have said no, must be inside!
