Hi! So I have curly, frizzy hair. I usually blow dry it straight. For the wedding I am having loose curls half up half down. For my trial, I had blown my hair out straight beforehand and using smoothing cream, and the curls fell out after 2-3 hours. Should I keep it curly and then have her do the loose curls with the curling iron? Anyone know tips? Thanks!

Same deal with me. I have curly frizzy hair, but I never blow it out. The girl who did my hair just told me not to put anything in it and let it dry naturally, and it worked out really well. And, my hair stayed the whole day (from 5:00 in the morning to 7:00 at night!)

i have very curly hair myself and ive been doing hair on the side for a couple years my best advice for you is do not heat style your hair before having it done in any kind of updo or half updo. its best to not even wash hair 24hrs before because it will hold much better with a little grease in it (i know its gross but it really makes a huge difference). for myself i know when im having my hair done in an updo or half up with curls i will blow it out straight first (just straight enough but dont go crazy getting it perfect) so that they curls come out perfect from the curling iron (im sure you know how natural curls are never quite the same from one day to the next) but do not use a flat iron of any kind! just blow it out to work out the curls and and leave it even if its puffy and not sleek your better off. once you manipulate the hair with heat to get it straight, when you use heat again to get it curly your basically confusing the hair at this point and it doesnt know what to do so it falls flat. i hope this helps, your hairdresser im sure could explain better and would never recommend starightening hair the day before you plan on curling with a curling iron.

Thanks for the advice! I had my trial done Wednesday and I too have curly/frizzy hair and my curls started to fall out within an hour. I was freaking out bc I'm taking pictures hours before the ceremony and am scared my hair will look all frizzy and flat b4 the wedding actually begins!

Re: Curly Hair Brides
instead of blowing your hair straight you should do rollers and sit under a dryer...thats the best ways to have your curls keep, afterwards your stylist should finish off the curls with a curling iron and maybe put a bit of mousse in your hair before you put it in the roller...if sitting under a hair dryer is not an option try hot rollers...
i have the same kind of hair you are talking about and its the only way my curls keep!! while they may not be shirley temple curls itll be bouncy, wavy and beautiful curls!! try it and see...let me know how it goes
