Curly Hair Brides

i need some inspriation, i have no clue what to do with my massive curly mess. you can see in some of my pics i have extremely curly hair the type is kinda tight corkscrew curly hair and its long its past my shoulders. just wondering what will look good in terms of wedding hair? should i have it blown out and then put up (im leaning towards wearing it all up so i dont risk being frizzy) just at a loss becuase every website and google search i do for updos and wedding hair i feel like would only work on straight hair

i am doing an updo - mainly bc i dont want to be a frizzball
i had no problems with my hairstyle lasting when i went for the trial

my hair is very curly too and i just wanted something simple and away from my face because there was no way i was going to have it down, getting frizzy and in my way... i had it all up, i think you can see it in my album...

I have curly hair too! I'm thinking of doing it half up. I want to look as natural as possible, but I do what something a little different. These are some hair-dos that I thought might look good!

I would def do an updo. i am doing the same to avoid frizz. They blow it out smooth and set it in rollers before styling it up, so you should be fine even if the style LOOKs like it;s for straight hair

I'm getting married in March but I'm wearing it half up and half down. I have bangs which will be straight and off to the side, the top- thickest part of my hair I plan on having back (something neat- no clue what yet) and the bottom I wanna do loose curls (Huge Curling iron), which is cool because no matter what the weather I know the curl will def hold. ALSO, I have the most AMAZING straightening iron ever.... So good that if you get it I wouldn't recommend using often because my hair used to be out of control crazy curls and now it's a bit less curly. It's by the people who do the Brazilian straightening. I had to buy it directly from the place that does my hair. She told me she usually doesn't sell it but I've known her since I was 6, and she knew how crazy curly my hair is... I'll get the exact name of it when I get home.... But June is warmer, so it may be more comfy to have your hair up! I just want you to know that there are options, even for us really curly haired people!

Good Luck!

i have super curly hair, seen here...

but i wanted a cleaner (neat! not frizzy! bad-hair-day proof!) look, with an updo that had a curl to it. i wear my hair curly, so i wanted to look like myself. i went to jenn the hair genie yesterday for a trial, and she didn't straighten my hair. she just worked with my curls (using a curling iron) and i LOVED the outcome.

ask your stylist first!!!! the 2 trials i had, they told me to just wash it and blow dry it a little but leave it curly. they will use your natural curl for volume and it's easier to hold a nice curling iron curl on curly hair, rather than curly hair that's been straightened. talk to them and tell them about your curls, they're pros!

I REFUSE to striaghten my hair before the up do. I have done this twice before and the hair falls out and doesn't look natural.

I'm going to find someone who knows curly hair and wash it before they put it up. its hard because some people think they know how to work with curls and they just don't

Curling iron over your natural curl!! This will prevent frizz the most!!!

Re: Curly Hair Brides

This is an interesting thread. My hair is curly but not super-tight curls, its more relaxed. When I went for my trial it was flat-ironed and then curled and put 1/2 up (my pictures wont' post on here?!). Anyways the style hardly held for an hour but she assured me she knew that would happen b/c a flat iron makes it limp and that I'd need to get it blown out the day before the wedding. I never straighten my hair. And I have a summer wedding. So I hope that #1 the style will hold (my hair is on the thin side) and #2 it won't get frizzy. I booked on the spot and she did offer me a 2nd trial if I wanted, I could get it blown out first so the style will hold, but I don't really want to go through all of that again. So I guess my question is, is it normal to blow dry hair straight before getting it done? I will try again to post pictures on here.
