cute, but what now?...birds!

My DH and I discovered that birds have built a nest in our airconditioner in one of the spare bed rooms. They had babies too! They are so cute to watch from outside, but man are they noisy! Their constant chirping is driving me nuts! It's so loud! I want them out of there, but I don't want to destroy their nest or hurt them. What can I do? Should I just put up with their noise?

edited to add: They are driving my dog nutso too!

You might have to wait until the babies start to fly. I think that if you take the nest down the momma bird will just build a new one in the same spot. I would call an extermanator for some ideas or maybe a pet store. Good luck!

DON'T Touch OR MOVE the nest...the mother will reject the nest and the babies will starve to death!

They won't be there all that long, just wait it out, and the babies will leave (maybe a couple of weeks).

Similar thing happened to me, I just loved the chirps, loud, but so cute to hear these little lives! Then one day, they were gone...they left the nest! I was actually a bit sad!

Meant to say, if you move or touch the nest, the new location will be rejected by the mother, even if you just touch it, it's dangerous because she may not ever go back to it, despite her babies cries for food.

i also have birds in my air conditioner in my room. Yes it is annoying, but I am used to it now...They come every spring!!!

sometimes I get nervous when I turn my air conditioner on

I totally sympathize. I've got pigeons living outside my window/on my roof (for the last 6 months). They've made a number of nests (like 4) and laid eggs, but the eggs never hatch and they abandon that nest after a few weeks and start another.

At this point, I don't even care about touching or moving the nests/eggs - for some reason the eggs aren't hatching anyway - I just want the noisy s-uckers GONE but I can't reach them. My landlord shoots them with a super soaker, but it hasn't detered them yet!

They're especially fond of making a racket at 6AM every day!

Don't bother them. They have no idea that they are bothering you, wait till the babies can fly. Don't call an exterminator...that's what they do..exterminate. The babies will be able to fly very soon....leave them be until then and then move the nest. If you can find an enclosure to stop them from building another next in there, once this one is gone, do it.
