Cute Story

Cute Story

I had to get out of the office before because my brain was about to explode, so I decided to go to the Starbucks up the road and chill out in my car.

As I was ordering and taking my gift card out of my wallet, the girl behind the counter saw my ring and was like Oh your ring is so pretty, when are you getting married? So I said December, and she was like oh wow, so you have some time still. I was like huh?? Haha. Awww honey....no, no I don't lol. She was young, probably HS or very early college.

Then she asked me if I had given any thought where to have the reception yet, because she had just gone to a wedding this weekend at LOTS and it was really nice there. So I said we were having it at Villa, but yes it was really nice there too.

Cute...I don't even want to think of getting married in December and still looking for a RH. I guess us brides really ARE psycho and don't have the same perspective on time frames as the rest of the world anymore.

Hahaha yea people do not understand until they plan a wedding or have someone close to them plan it. I was clueless myself until I was MOH for my cousin 2 years ago.

FH and I got engaged June 3rd last year and when his mom found out we were looking for RH's for fall 2009 she called us crazy.. haha yet every reception hall I went to only had 2 or 3 fall dates available!

and yes I have had people ask me did I get a dress.. UM ITS about 3 months away.. YESSSSS

That is so funny! My wedding is September and people still ask us if we have picked a place yet! And not kids either! Adults who have been married!

people that aren't planning a wedding or that have never planned a wedding have no clue at all. Especially in NY, you have to plan things so much in advance to make sure you get all the vendors you want.

BTW..what is LOTS?

Its true.. unless you are living it people have no concept of timing or price! I swear I told my boss where we were getting married and how many people we invited and he almost chocked on his coffee and said that he didnt understand these big weddings cause he got married on a farm in wisconsin!

I was still looking at RH's 6 months before my wedding but that was silly on my part.

I know! We went to look at invitations this weekend, and another bride was in the store and thought we were crazy because we're looking for invitations and getting married in November. She was picking hers out for her July 2010 wedding!

I understand! It takes all my self control not to give them some smart@ss answer back, but I always say to myself that I'm in wedding mode and the rest of the world isn't so maybe they don't know you have to book an RH or buy a dress more than 3 months before!

I also hate it when people pick the most inopportune times at work to BOMBARD me with wedding questions (like, when I have 10 minutes to get music copied for my first lesson of the day). I get really, really annoyed by the questions, especially the DUH ones. 'Where are you having it?' grr.

I personally DESPISE when people say 'oh you still have time.'

HATE IT.

What do I have time for and are you paying for it? ICK.

I had a pretty well known vendor tell me this the other day and I almost went apeshit. I was like how can you be in the wedding business and not know that this is the WORST thing ever to say to a bride?

You could totally do it, the wedding I went to over the weekend, she planned it in less then 6 months and was calm, cool and collected the week before the wedding. So it is doable. She was a little stressed about a month ago. But I think a year or more is a much more practical timeframe.

What's so funny is that up until like a MONTH AGO people were telling me 'oh you still have plenty of time,' and then like OVERNIGHT, everyone is all of a sudden 'WOW your wedding is SO SOON, like right around the corner!'

Did I miss a memo?

THAT is insane...I'm getting married July 2010 and I'm not even THINKING about invitations until January at least!
