*~D is for Dance Party~*

Happy Monday Ladies -

The letter of the day is...

D for DANCE PARTY!

First and foremost, what song will be played for your first dance?

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?

Are there any added musical elements you plan to incorporate (sax player, steel drums, etc.)?

What are some of your Must Play songs?

Obviously, kind of hard to post a pic for this one...

can't wait to see all your ideas!

Kings of Leon - 'Use Somebody'... whenever me and FI hear this song, we immediately think of each other so it's fitting that it's our first dance.

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?

Definitely DJ.

Are there any added musical elements you plan to incorporate (sax player, steel drums, etc.)?

I would like to have a steel drum player for the cocktail but that all depends on the pricing.

What are some of your Must Play songs?

Cupid Shuffle
Just Like Heaven - The Cure
Take Me Home Tonight - Eddie Money
Glory Days - Bruce Springsteen (to appease my mother and aunts)
ABC - Jackson Five

- Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat - 'Lucky' - We're not 100% we're going to use this song, but FH and I love it!

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?
- Band!! We're trying to find one that we love!

Are there any added musical elements you plan to incorporate (sax player, steel drums, etc.)?
- During our CH we plan on having a keyboardist and we definitely want a horn section (sax, trumpet) in the band.

What are some of your Must Play songs?
- I'm not sure yet!! I haven't thought about it too much...but DEFINITELY some Disco and 80s music!!!

We're leaning towards Amazed by Lonestar. I LOVE the lyrics, but its a little too country for our liking and the first line (where he sings 'every time our eyes meet' and its soooo twang-y) makes me cringe which isn't a good sign!!!! I'm going to try to maybe find this by another artist or think about asking FH's cousin to sing it for us bc I think that would be really special. Otherwise, we'll look for something else maybe - not really sure.

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?
Most likely DJ since bands are not in our budget

Are there any added musical elements you plan to incorporate (sax player, steel drums, etc.)?
I would like to see if we could add a percussionist or something to give the DJ a little umph, but we'll see

What are some of your Must Play songs?
No idea!! I'm really not a music person, so we'll have to see

First and foremost, what song will be played for your first dance?
Making Memories of Us by Keith Urban

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?
Definitely a DJ

FH is Spanish so I would have loved to have a small spanish band play during CH, but I don't think our wallets will allow it.

What are some of your Must Play songs?
Don't really plan on having a must play song list, just want them to play what will keep the party going. I will though have a DO NOT PLAY list.....such as the Macarena, electric slide etc.

'Taking You Home' by Don Henley. It's not a super popular song that we'll hear everywhere, so it will stay special

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?
We were originally going to have a DJ, but now we're really considering a band. That way, there's entertainment for the people who don't want to dance and for our crowd, I think it'll make people more comfortable to get up and party.
After hearing a couple of really good bands (And some really bad ones!) we figured if we pick the right band, it'll be better for our crowd

sidebar: I HATE when I go to a wedding and the DJ haunts me to get up! Most of he weddings I've been to, I was a guest of an invited guest so I didn't know anyone and I'm uncomfortable around new people for a while.

Are there any added musical elements you plan to incorporate (sax player, steel drums, etc.)?
Not really, but my brother is going to sing Ave Maria at the ceremony. I'm getting married on my grandmother's birthday and it was her favorite

What are some of your Must Play songs?
My Do Not Play list is longer than my must play list. I swear to Someone that if I hear the electric slide, the chicken dance or YMCA at my wedding, I will shove the cake in their face.

I'd love to hear some doo wop and motown and VERY limited selections from the 70's.

My Mom really wants to have a steel drum band for my Dad during the cocktail hour, but my FI is not so keen on the idea. Also, I don't think we can afford it. I guess we'll see what happens.

What are some of your Must Play songs?
Hmmm. I haven't really thought about this. I know I will have a Don't play list. I guess when I get closer to booking this I will know better.

I currently am still looking for a 1st dance song.

We booked with Tommy Tunes - DJ and MC.

My grandpa is playing a few songs on the piano (he's been in concerts and shows before - it's his hobby since retiring -and he's won awards) which means a lot to me. His instructor/mentor person is going to come and accompany him on another instrument (??? it's apparently a surprise what he's doing but it's kinda of annoying not knowing)

First Dance- Right now we like 'The One' by Elton John, but what we call our song is Magnet and Steel by Walter Egan.

We booked Tommy's Tunes for our dj.

We added a jazz guitarist for the cocktail hour, and I would love to have one of my bridesmaids sing us a song too, although I have no idea what song she would sing, or when.

We don't have a must play list yet, but my do not play list is pretty long lol

First, let me say that I am absolutely crazy about having the music be absolutely perfect at the wedding!!! A Dj or band can make or brake a reception!

First and foremost, what song will be played for your first dance?
Heaven- Dj Sammy (candlelight remix)

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?
DJ (Satisfaction Guaranteed)

Are there any added musical elements you plan to incorporate (sax player, steel drums, etc.)?
We were against anything extra but recently saw the drummer element at a showcase, loved it, and are thinking of adding it on.

What are some of your Must Play songs?
Need to have 'The time of My Life' from Dirty Dancing as the last song. 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' by Cyndi Lauper for all my girls, 'Love of My Life' by Reina and Lucas Prata for the photo montage, then the classic music that everyone loves after a couple of drinks 'Livin on a Prayer' Bon Jovi, 'Shook me All Night Long' AC/DC, and some 70's oldies ..the twist, Runaround Sue..

NO ELECTRIC SLIDE, OR LADY IN RED!!!! LOL

First and foremost, what song will be played for your first dance?
either Adele's To Make You Feel My Love, or So This is Love from Cinderalla (a completely perfect, minute-and-a-half short-and-sweet waltz). Probably the latter.

Are you planning on having a DJ or band?
DJ!!!

Are there any added musical elements you plan to incorporate (sax player, steel drums, etc.)?
Nope!

What are some of your Must Play songs?
Roy Orbison's You Got It, Beatles' Something, Beatles' Hold Me Tight, awesome club-ish stuff that LIR used to play 10yrs ago when they were still LIR...and nothing with choreographed dancing (except the twist...Beatles' version ;))...and awesome latin jazz that I should really learn to dance to.

we're having a DJ & 80's are a must haha I loove all the old stuff like Bon Jovi..I do have a list and it's too many to type now so I'll just say the Boardy Barn Soundtrack pretty much covers it for anyone that has been there haha

Re: *~D is for Dance Party~*

Unfortunately I can't afford a band so I am having a DJ for sure.
I would like a string quartet- violins and maybe a harp for ceremony and possibly cocktail hour. Trumpets would be cool too.

Must Play Songs:
Kiss the Girl - Little Mermaid LOLOL
That song by the black eyed peas about tonight being a good night...
It is so much easier to pick a do not play list
