Dad Needs Surgery Two Days Before Wedding

Two yrs ago my dad needed a pacemaker put in. Now it seems like he needs a stronger one. i know it's a routine thing, but was supposed to get it done on May 5. However, they can't squeeze him in and now he can go on May 19. It's three days before my wedding and my mom wants me to sleepover at their house the night of the surgery and help her pick him the next day from the hospital (she doesn't drive). I know it's selfish and I am willing to pick him up, but I am not sure what I will have to do two days before my wedding. I have a feeling I am going to be really busy. She's like quizzing me on what I will be busy with--hello it's two days before my wedding.

He's going to ask the doc if he can put it off until after the wedding altogether, but I don't want him to jeopardize his health either.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Do you have friends/bridal party who can help get the odds and ends done during that week?

Yes, my MOH is fabulous. And my FH is also willing to help pick up my dad if I am unable to. I guess I am stressing myself out w/o really needing to.

Hopefully your BP and your family can help you do the little odds and ends before your wedding.

Yup I'd enlist your BP army right now! And be there for your daddy. Take it from someone who doesn't have that option.

So sorry to hear that. I hope everything works out for your dad. I would totally stress too but I'm sure you can get friend/family etc to help out. If he gets the pacemaker put in will he be okay for your wedding? And I'm sure if the doctor would not let hum put it off it would jeopardize his health if that was an option.

eta. . do you live far from your mom? would she stay over at your house night of the surgery so maybe she could have your company but help you out, which might actually take her mind off things, but you could be more relaxed b/c you know you would be taking care of things??

These are routine procedures and I know you already know that he will be fine. He probably just needs the battery replaced. I believe those have to be replaced on average every 5 years. Anyway...I'm pretty sure a family member has to pick him up and if your mom can go with your MOH then that seems like a good solution if you won't have the time.
