Daddy's here painting my soon-to-be guest room-YAY!!

Finally after living here for over a year, I am getting the guest room into shape. Untill now it has been the 'cats' room' and housed a litterbox. an exercise bike and a TV.

Dad is painting and we will be bringing over my old bed from my parents' house (I bought it a few years ago, so it is MINE to take) and I bought really pretty Simply Shabby Chic bedding from Target and some cute accessories. I am making it a pretty girly room. I can't wait to post pics of the finished product.

Don't worry, I did take before pics, but they are just pics of a somewhat empty room.

Oh yeah, in case anyone is wondering if my DH has any handyman skills, he does, but he is working full time and in grad school part time so his time to paint and do household things is limited now. My dad has lots of vacation (probably five weeks) and this week and next week are vacation weeks for him so he has time. AND Dad is really quick and efficient when it comes to painting. DH tapes EVERYTHING and it takes forever. Dad has painted so much through the years (parents have had their house for 35 years and changed quite a few room colors) he doesn't need to tape.

Okay, time to check on Dad and make sure the cats are not in the paint or on the ladder!!

I'm with you! Our guest room has become the 'catch all' room. Anything we don't know where to put winds up in there.

That's cool. I love to paint, but we can't paint our walls, so I just paint old furniture mostly.
Well. I mostly do it, & I let DH help

That's cute that your dad wants to help you, especially if it is a big room, it is probably too much for 1 person to do.

Nevermind Dad just helping, he is painting the whole thing. He just needed me to get out all of our supplies and he does the whole thing. He prefers to work this way. He was actually depressed that our condo didn't need too much work when we moved in.
Dad has a friend who retired just when his daughter got married and bought a fixer-upper and he would go to the house in the morning after the couple went to work and he would paint and do woodwork.

Maybe my dad will be retired when we move into a house in a few years and he will do the same.
