My fiance and his groomsmen are wearing less-than-traditional tuxes and as such I was wondering what people think as far as what the dad's should wear. I'm in ivory, so my fiance is in a black tux with ivory everything else (shirt, vest, tie), while the GM match the BM's celadon dresses with their vest and tie (still black jacket/pants and ivory shirt). Who are the dad's supposed to match? Should they just wear traditional black and white tuxes, match the groom, match the GM...I dont know. Anyone here have any clue?

Re: Dad's of Bride/Groom dress
Well I'm probably not much help because FH, his BM and my dad are all wearing different black suits... fh will have black shirt and white tie, his BM will wear a black shirt with turquoise tie to match my BMs and I told my dad to just wear a black suit, white shirt and black or black/white tie. Know idea what FHs dad will wear, but I'd rather not know since it will most likely end up stressing me out.

I would go with same tux as everyone else, but maybe a black vest/tie, so they dont look like theyre in the bridal party, but look different from your FH.
My husband (he he, thats still new to me to say) and the bridal party work charcoal gray tuxes. Hubby wore a light gray vest and the groomsmen wore black vests. So the dads wore the same tux but in black and then the same vest/tie as the groomsmen.

The Dad's don't have to match the bridal party. I think a traditional tux would be great.

I would go with either a traditional black tux or the same tux as the bridal party with GREY vests / ties so they do not match the groom.
If your FI is wearing ivory, they should not wear white. If anything, they should wear ivory.

Re: Dad's of Bride/Groom dress
Usually the dad's wear a vest and tie to match the dress worn by their wife.
My dad was a special case tho since he's remarried, but walked me down the aisle with my mom. So I had him wear a Charcoal vest and tie so he'd be neutral and match both.

they can wear whatever they want. The dads won't be in any pics with the BP so it doesn't really matter. My dad picked out a tux he liked. It was a bit on the expensive side and dh's dad didn't want to spend as much so he got the same tux the guys did but his vest and tie matched my dad's.

They will be in pictures with the couple, though, so if they're wearing ivory and not white, the dads shouldn't wear white. Other than that, they don't have to match the BP.
