Re: Dance Classes
We're taking a class at the great neck arts center, it's $575 (I think, I can't remember the exact price but it's something around that #) for the two of us. It's not a private lesson but the class is small and we're learning a lot. The semester just started last week so you only missed one class if you sign up soon.

Re: Dance Classes
We went in Brooklyn We partnered with another couple and paid $30 per couple per 1-hour lesson, as many lessons as we'd like. We loved our teacher and plan on continuing lessons even though the wedding is over.

Re: Dance Classes
We used John from Ballroom Dance LI ... we thought he was great! Lots of the 07ers used him too, you can search for reviews
ETA: The lessons are private (a deal breaker for DH & I, we didn't want to have to dance in front of another couple), and he works out of a few different studios, so he'll do his best to make it convenient for you.
He'll also choreograph a dance specifically for your 1st dance song, and teach you other dances too.

Re: Dance Classes
We are taking lessons at Ballroom Legacy in Sea Cliff.
http://www.ballroomlegacy.com/
The price is reasonable. It was something like $750 (or maybe $795, can't remember exactly) for 10 private lessons and 7 group lessons, plus they have 'parties' after their group lessons where you can practice your dancing. The instructors walk around during this time and help you. If you take the group lesson before, you don't have to pay extra.
They are really nice and we love our instructor. We walked in knowing nothing, but after only a few lessons, I feel that we can dance!

We did something similar where we live here in VA. Most towns with Dept of Parks & Recreation offer these sorts of classes throughout the year.
