dance classes

FH and I took group lessons- we learned some moves but do not feel comfortable at all dancing to our first dance. We called one place that gives private lessons but they said that they doubt we could learn a dance in 5 weeks but we can not afford more than that. I have heard of places choreographing a dance and teaching it within two weeks. Where do I go for this? He said he can not choreograph the dance beforehand- 'that happens during the lessons' I want someone to come up with the dance according to our song and then teach us step by step- We do not want to learn anything more than what we really need to know.

Re: dance classes

I just got off the phone with a dance studio. He said he'll give us a complimentary dance lesson to see how we move and he'll choreograph the dance using a style that matches us ( and it doesn't have to be ballroom). We don't have a song yet, but he said that's even better. He can help us pick a song that suits us. My free class is Monday. I'll let you know how it goes.

We didn't have something choreographed until we started to learn steps so this sounds right. DH and I choreographed our dance to the steps we learned over I would say 15-20 lessons (once a week from December - the Tuesday before our wedding in March) and it looked and felt great.

We used The Dance Loft in Long Beach- the instructors name is Laura.
