Ok so I don't dance at all, I don't really like to and I'm not very good at it. This is not at all self deprecating just extremely realistic lol. FH (he can dance and actually enjoys it) are planning on taking lessons. I have a few questions though: how many lessons do you think we should take and how long before the wedding should we start? Do they just teach you how to dance to your first dance song or a couple of songs? I have a year and 8 days to go and I am completely slacking but this is actually one of my top priorities (I booked the church and RH and have appointments coming up for a DJ and photographer) because I don't want to look like a fool on my day Any advice would be appreciated =]

Re: Dance lesson question
I don't actually know anyone who has done this so i'm not sure how long before you need to go....I guess it depends on how good you are after your first lesson lol
I definitely feel your pain....I like dancing *not that im super great or anything*...FH has zero rhythm (spelling?) I feel like when we slow dance we probably look like we are at a middle school dance.

Re: Dance lesson question
I used to be a dance teacher, and trust me we can teach anyone!!! I'd start 3-4 months before the wedding. A lot of places, like Arthur Murray, will give u like a specific wedding package. HTH

Re: Dance lesson question
My sister took lessons wit her FH six months before the wedding because they wanted someone to choreograph their first dance. They went once a week for 6 months.

I was thinking about this, but 6 months is too long.
I've seen some packages with a month of group lessons and then a private lesson or two to help choreograph your first dance.
They have coupons and deals out there too so make sure you google for some deals or get the emails from the wedding channel.

There was just a deal yesterday to have 3 private lessons and one group lesson for 175. I totally bought it since I use to take dance classes at the studio that was offering the deal. I plan on doing a choreographed dance that is the only reason I am doing the lesson.

Re: Dance lesson question
FH and I both have very little rhythm. We are planning to first begin dance lesson at a continuing ed program. Once we learn the basics and become more comfortable we will do classes at a dance studio to help us choreograph our first dance.
