Re: dance lessons

My FI and I took ballroom dancing lessons in college. It was lots of fun!! We might take some more lessons before our wedding to brush up a bit. Can't wait to hear how it goes tonight!

Re: dance lessons

Sounds like so much fun! We're thinking of lessons as well. FH is not a dancer, so he'd rather learn a routine- I'm all for it. Let us know how it goes.

Re: dance lessons

FH and I are taking ballroom dancing classes through Nassau Community's Continuing Ed. We are enjoying the classes and have learned so much! Also, the price was great (about $80 for 10 hour and half long classes).

Re: dance lessons

Just sharing my experience with Arthur Murray. We took the first free lesson and it went great. We signed up for four more lessons for $190. After our four lessons (and before we learned to dance to our 'first dance') we were offeed a package that was 18 classes for $2400. We did not need 18 (or want) 18 more classes with 6 weeks to go for the wedding. We wanted the option to take 4 more classes. This option was not available - it was 18 classes or nothing! Just beware to ask about this up front. Here we are with 5 weeks to go looking for a new dance instuctor to work with us on our first dance.

Re: dance lessons

Jeanne - thats how many dance studios work..you have to have a 'plan' rather than just one off lessons. Not sure why its like that.

I have a private instructor if you would like to use him, you can pay as you go. He is about $75/lesson and is in Queens or can come to Manhattan.

Re: dance lessons

We went to AM in Bayshore. We told them we wanted to buy private lessons only, they told us for the price of 6 private lessons we would get 6 private, 5 group & 5 practice. We did that but we never used anything but the privates. Our instructor was great her name is Lisa.
