I have a son from my previous marriage who is 5 (and quite adorable, might I add ) and we are doing something to include him in the ceremony, but I'd also like to have a special dance with him. I'm not sure if I should do just my son and myself, or us and my FH. Also, I need appropriate song ideas. Can anyone help??

Sorry I do not have particular song examples but definitely something he knows and likes. Maybe from a Disney or other animated movie? My nephew's are little guys and they love Phil Collin's 'You'll Be in My Heart' from Tarzan. Lyrics you'd need to do an internet search on and read to see if appropriate.

The lyrics in that are actually what tarzan's gorilla mom sang to him...
to sum up, its about how she will always love him and be there for him. The only part that may not apply is a part about how they are different, yet no so different really.
Not sure if that helps, but it may be a good choice for a mother/son dance.

lol....actually, we have a few 'special' songs....like Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, I Love You More Today Than Yesterday, and Taking You Home...we dance around the living room like idiots to those!!

A friend of mine did this ... she danced with her son (age 8) to 'A whole new world' and towards the end her husband came in and all 3 danced it was very touching.

I have a suggestion. I like the song 'I hope you dance' from Leann Womack. I'm pretty sure that's her name. The lyrics are so beautiful and appropriate.

That is a great song, just wasnt sure if it was for a grown son. I love the 'Whole New World' idea too!!
No matter what the song, even if it's Welcome To The Jungle, I'm gonna be bawling. My son is so amazing, and it's just been him and me for so long, we're like a team. I love him sooo much!!
