Dances

I was just wondering when everyone is doing the Bride/Father Dances and Groom/Mother Dances. I went to a wedding this weekend and the Bride and Groom both danced with their parent right after their first dance. I thought tradition was that those dances were done after the cake cutting ceremony. My FI and I are going to do ours after cake cuting. When are you doing yours?

I'm doing mine in the beginning. Whenever they do them at the end of weddings, people are distracted and don't pay as much attention. In the beginning everyone's eyes are on you and I feel that it is more meaningful.

We are doing them right after our first dance...so we will do our dance with bridal party and parents joining in a end. Then father/daugher dance followed by mother/son. I agree that when you do it after cake cutting there are more distractions and everyone is not focussed on what is happening.

At the wedding that I went to, one one was paying attention everyone was sitting and talking. I figure that right after cake everyone is already up watching the two of you feeding each other, so you already have their attention. Also, for the people that arrive late at least they do not miss that part of the reception.

we invited our guests up to dance after our first one...so we waited...but I think its a personal preference...neither is 'wrong' or 'right'
