dances - help

for those of you who took group lessons, we learned a couple of ballroom style.. hmm box trot.. something else something else..

can u combine the moves you learn for each of them.. like i like the spin in one but the turn in the other.. can i do both in one song or is that weird?

you absolutely can. we started group lessons in January of 07, and they ran through March. Didn't do much of anything after that, so didn't really recall the patterns for the wedding. Our song had a fox trot tempo, but our dancing ended up being a strange waltz, fox trot, tango mix. I couldn't stop laughing the whole time, and none of our guests knew anything. They all said we were 'amazing' and how great it was that we took lessons, etc.

So long story short, don't sweat doing a particular dance to the letter. But DEFINITELY practice so you can handle your tempos and steps, regardless of whether you combine styles.

It depends on the song... I have taken ballroom for a year now and I am having a integral part in the choreography of our song - we are starting out with a fox trot and then transitioning into an east coast triple step swing - what song is it? does it work with more than one type of dance?
